What say you seasoned KB'ers?

My mate suggested wearing a thin balaclava under lid, to...
A) keep the neck warm and.
B) Stop the sweat from raping the padding.
But I find them a little uncomfortable when wearing sunnies under the lid aswell.

Never tried a bandana... I assume that it too would keep the sweat from getting into the padding? my only issue is my chin/neck gets freakin cold when riding in the early mornings. anythoughts?

I wear a $4 cotton tube thing around my neck in teh summer, keeps the bugs off my neck http://dx.com/p/camouflage-neck-tube-scarf-headgear-91015 (although I found one with skulls on for coolness)
Also doubles as a kind of hat if you get somewhere and need it.
I had a few bugs get down inside the neck of my leather, so now I just always wear on.. dont wanna wasp or something in there.

in the winter i wear an oxford neck tube: http://oxford-shop.com/cat235_1.htm

I also have a merino beanie and a merino balaclava for those really cold days

If you're in auckland, there is a wool shop beside Maccas at the BP on the motorway just past papakura (going south). Cant remember its name, but they were selling merino icebreaker beanie (seconds and old stock) for 10$. Awesomeness.

I wear a proper 'cool suit' material skull cap. Very thin, hardly noticeable and keeps sweat out of the helmet.

I've got bandana, neck scarf and a neck tube.
I never wear the bandana, because it makes me look like a homosexual thug trawling for wanger.
But I usually wear the neck tube, it's warm enough and it's also very breathable.
The neck warmer/scarf thingy is quite heavy duty, so that's only for hail, or the once every 5 years snow (riding in snow = sideways fun)

Neck tubes - thin in winter, thick (like me) in winter.

This is from the same manufacturer as my cap, although this is a 2-in-1 piece.

I have the Oxford balaclava, works a treat - wear it in winter and summer. Neck tube or neck warmers, I have several, one is a synthetic nylon stretchable material, the other is wool and quite loose. They suit me 'cause I hate it when bees/wasps go down your front. Usually with the neck tube/neck warmer none of those problems.

Also have a silk balaclava, thin and very comfortable. Just shop around and try them out. I didn't get around to the neck tube where you could soak it in water and they cool you off as they slowly dry out.

Revit Balaclava (there are a few). Section inside the helmet is thin material, then thicker around the neck.

Only really use it for cold days though, so puzzled you're asking in summer :)

If you buy a bandana, avoid wearing a red or blue one, particularly in poor socioeconomic areas as it may be mistaken for gang colours by the local homies.

I've got a polycotton necktube from some years back, too bulky, so hardly ever wore it.

Got a proper riding balaclava, windproof front and all, thin material and that works for me. All good for 1000 km days too :2thumbsup

Balaclava...isn't that the sort of thing worn for gangbangs and bukkake contests?

+ 1 to this, winter for cold , summer cause of potential stinging bugs.

...after about 4 to 600 ks, my testicles feel like they have been kicked by a horse continuously for a protracted time...do you think wrapping them in banana skins before a weally big wide would make me feel all chipper and comfortable by the time I got home...or would heavy painkillers be better....my friend has some bluish ones....

One point, if you wear something under your helmet it can have squash your helmet pads a little and make the helmet feel lose.
