You couldn't be any more right mate, that is an absolutely fantastic run, the wow factor when coming up and over Blind Saddle is something else, definitely in my top 10 NZ greats.
Good to see you have had great weather on your side for such a long time

Great pics, Love the trials bike shots...what sort and size is it? does it have long range tank?
I couldn't get any pics of the DR's lying on their side on our ride yesterday cos the North Island boys are too lightening quick at getting them upright....but there were lots of oppertunities

It's a Montesa 4RT (250cc four-stroke four-valve fuel-injected water-cooled Honda engine) with a 2.1 litre tank. That's good for approx 45km in these easy conditions (mostly 4th and 5th gear) so I carry 2 x 2.25 litre coke bottles in my back pack, and fill up as required. I just made it for the full 150km with only fumes in the tank.
Ducatijim, sorry we didn't stop for a chat, but time was getting on - we just got back to the road gate before it was to be locked at 5 pm.

Thanks RD, Theres an 05 Montessa for sale on TM that I've been keeping an eye on. I want to buy a trials bike but not sure on 250 or 125.

Not often the spare fuel has a bigger capacity than the main tank
You've got the extremes of fuel tanks covered I reckon!

Good stuff aye! Heaps of pics in the first part of my ride report from last month: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?p=20552222#post20552222
Got to get in there again & explore the upriver leg of the track that we missed out on this time. It's definitely worth spending the night in there & there are lots of nice huts to choose from as well as camping. I look forward to seeing Bass's report on ADV (which, cool or not, is a way better spot for a ride report than KB for several reasons)
Cheers

I was in Clarence River on the 2nd & 3rd and it beat me. I think it was a combination of being the final day of 9 days of riding, with a load of camping gear on board, heat and exhaustion. I got halfway out to the northern most hut and ended up camping beside the river for the night, I was knackered and had come off on one uphill just after the tracks split.
There will be Clarence pics up on that evil networking site soon, at the moment I'm only halfway through the trip. I just posted up the Serpentine Road pics last night. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.589390674407909.145100.100000109452895&type=1

Clarence can beat you Eddie, It can get over 40 degrees in there ,or else it could rain and you'll never get out...
In the top o the south Clarence and Denniston to New Creek , for me are the awesomest rides but both weather dependent on the day, so its hard to plan these if you are from 'away'
