Windows 8, Metro, IE problem

(Yes, yes, use a different browser - not the point, I'm interested to know if the issue is just on my machine or what ...)

I've noticed that on my Sony Vaio Duo I can't post to KiwiBiker using IE from Metro. When I try to type a message, the on screen keyboard pops up, but then vanishes before I can type. It works fine on various other forums.

Even if I pop out the physical keyboard, I can't type. For some reason it's not active.

I'm entering this message using IE from Desktop mode.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has this problem - are any of you using a Windows 8 Tablet?

(All I can guess, is that there's some JavaScript doing something weird the browser doesn't understand.)

Is that ie10 ? I noticed a couple of similar bugs, particularly with secure pw change environments.

Yeah, Windows 8 comes with IE10.

But there are two versions, one that runs in the new (don't call it 'Metro') Metro interface, and one that runs in Desktop (don't call it a 'mode') mode.

Overall I find IE10 fine - but I have had to disable Flash, as the ads on the TradeMe forum make it explode. (I never saw a BSOD in Windows 7; but the Win8 Desktop U.I. manager fails on me (luckily re-starting itself usually) a couple of times a day; this may also be the root cause of the IE10/Flash crashes, but who can say?)

Anyway, it's just weird that the on-screen keyboard won't work in Metro IE10 on KiwiBiker (for me)...

I've been lucky enough to steer clear of Windows 8 so far... but in regards to Flash, I've had to disable it in FF and Chrome for particular ads as it freezes the browser sometimes... so the Flash issue seems to be cross browser.

Yip, I had that with Chrome using an automated Flash enabled password change facility.

ie8 was the only way I could get it to work.

"learn" linux?? bro, you can make ubuntu look like windows but with different icons. (or the same ones, if you're that way inclined)
