Boot recommendation?

My boots are coming up for replacement. I ride every day and need a hard-wearing pair.

Budget is up to $300.

Anyone recommend any boots?

....nearly three years on since getting them, and they are still wearing great, still waterproof and very hard wearing. (altho they do "squeek" alot when you walk)
LOVE EM! (And I ride all year round, rain hail or snow-(Im not allowed to drive cars, for your safety!)...the boots have held up well for three southern winters so far)


I also Highly recommend Hein Gericke boots (If you can find them, I believe they went out of business...but some stock still floating around)

Ive had a set of there summer ankle boots for years!!...they just keep going and going!, great on the bike and off it....the build quality is just amazing :niceone:


There are so many styles and makes of boot available nowdays, its hard to choose...go with what you like and what will work for your situation ;)...good luck, hope you find the perfect pair

I've used SIDI Canyons for a long time now.

Way better than any other boot I have used.

Had my current Oxtar Gore Tex boots for eight years now, still doing the job nicely.
Whatever you buy, the words 'Gore Tex' will ensure dry feet.

For long distance I use Gaerne Adventure boots - an older model of these (I did have an adventure bike) these are very hard wearing and comfortable. Only once have I had water come in (in a pissing rain storm in Petone)

For every day I use TCX boots ... an older version of the model in the link below. These have been a great comfortable boot - last well - no major issues. These boots are inclined to squeak quite a lot - I have found that Wax sprays will stop them squeaking ... so I use the chain wax on the boots .. other peope use other wax stuff ... wax seems to be the crucial ingredient to stopping them squeaking .. Once I worked that out these are great boots.

Price? I'm not sure - I got both sets on a good deal from my local - and either pair would be in your budget range with the great deal ..

...go with what you like and what will work for your situation ;)...good luck, hope you find the perfect pairAs Willy said. You have a budget, use it. Quality & comfort. If possible look for boots with replaceable souls. But be aware that may compromise future water resistance/proofing.

If you know that you fit a certain size boot then by all means read the reviews and get the best for your dollar.

If you're anything like me though then the most important aspect of any item of clothing is the fit.

Go to as many bike shops as you can in the time available, try on what they have and buy what you like the best.

My first boots were Forma (mid range with toe sliders). They lasted reasonably well although did split in the heal a little. Not sure if they were water proof but I don't think my feet ever got wet. I couldn't really do long distances with them though because they were a little narrow for my kiwi feet.

Next and still current boots are TCX SS (I think). I pretty sure I got them for around $250. Water proof and even suit the kiwi flat foot. I am a fan of TCX boots.

Recently added some high end Gaerne's to the boot cupboard as they were a very good deal, and damn, they're even more comfy than the TCX! They're a race boot so you feel like a plonker wearing them in public but they feel like hardcore slippers.

TCX would be my recommendation.
