Sorry folks, if that's the way it's heading then I'm out

When the Cemetery circuit ran the first year in 1951 Sidecars weren't around so it was just a solo meeting the following year Sidecars were added to the programme and have run at every meeting since then. This year at the Cemetery circuit there will be a celebration of 60 years since they first raced with a number of old machines and past riders and supporters already marking it on their calendar to be there.
It's in the early stages of planning at the moment so keep an eye out for what official things will be on and if anyone has any suggestions as to what could be included let us know

A parade lap with all sidecars, in chronological order from oldest to newest would be pretty choice i reckon, give people an idea of howthings have evolved.

How many sidecar deaths there? we'll technically this is 60 years of Sidecars Street Racing at Wanganui. it's not only the cemetery circuit so it could be one two or three Sidecar Fatalities over the years.
there was a rider died at the Motua Gardens Circuit in 1962, his name eludes me at the moment

Tony Fleming Died on the CC the day after boxing day circa 1986, twas a two day meeting

and Roy Lovell died after crashing on the CC in a mid winter meeting

hey did ya support your local Tourettes society and buy one of their Valentines cards yesterday? the ones with the nice writing inside, 'It's the thought that cunts'

Either for Wangi, or the Bazza.

It's a big ask to do it for Wangas. Rained out and you're screwed, and it's only a one day meeting. Too much coin for someone to spend to come over for.

Thats if you can get those twonks that run the Tri-Series to include sidecars at the Hamsters and Manfield rounds...and NOT insist on 15 minimum entries:weird:

There's now a more sustainable number of bikes and competitors to mayb eget some reasonable grids again.
I talked to Flea last Saturday re this 60 year thing and he asked me to ask the NZSRA if they were interested in fronting a sizeable grid for this years tri series.
for the last race at HD the tri series before last there were six bikes on the grid and that was the first meeting, their main concern was that would two rounds before the Cem Cct reduce the feild to a point where it is not viable to run at Wanganui.

Anyways, I passed on Fleas request to Tracey to put to the Association

Liked gordys idea of parade lap with bikes in order from oldest to newest :D as long as the agip bike is in there ;)

Will be planning to go up to the Barry Sheene again this year and Wanganui Street race.. if Tri Series is allowing sidecars and numbers are lacking I might be able to swing that way too.. will see.

The decision to run or not to run will be made at meetings sometime in the future, this is on the NZSRA agenda for the upcoming AGM & a proposal will be put to the CC, it will not be made on some internet forum.
We bent over backwards last year to provide a sufficent quantity of outfits as requested by Cemetary Circiut, that number was then increased by them, we then provided the revised minimum grid, which exceeded the superbike grid at the first two national rounds this year, at quite some cost to several behind the scenes financial backers, not the promoters.
Having said that, the number of entries requested probably did sidecar racing in general a lot more good than harm at the end of the day.
I own several sidecars & a front running solo, so when the organisers decide what they are doing this year, I will be happy to consider entering said bikes.
Of course the option of cutting off their noses to spite their faces is entirely open to them.
Having said that, I am aware that Mr Willacy & Mr Billington have been nothing but a pleasure for the NZSRA representative to deal with.

So it's true, sidecar people really are crazy! To be honest, I have never once thought about that, but now you bring it up, I'm guessing some serious upper body strength would be required just to get one to turn in and hold a line. Is there such a thing as ride days for sidecars???
