i am trading my gn 250 in cause of a recent arse warming almost leg breaking experience on the rimutaka hill. some of you guys may have seen me on sunday sitting on my gn on the side of the road. not much damage was done, though it made me want a decentish handling bike. i was only going 55-60 around a corner i could of done heaps more into it. so i was granny riding aroundthis corner with almost no lean at all and the front wheel just decided to go lie down. i almost hit a landcruiser 4wd coming down the hill but i decided to let go of the bike and kinda live to tell the tale. any way i am looking @ a 2003 gsx250 invader that was dropped so a new front off a gsf /smething similar is geting thrown because they are cheaper and look much better. it was owned by a woman and she claime to have never ridden it hard at all. its done 10000ish ks and every thing except the fairing is totaly mint. i was told about 4-4.5k tops without the trade. that sounds like a great deal to me, anyone got any advice?

Is that the private sale one on bikepoint in the waikato for $4500? Photo looks ok if it is. Maybe get it checked by a shop.

Hold out for a while... About two months ago there were three for sale in trademe, all for under $4300, all newer than 2003, all less than 10,000km on the clock... And all in mint condition. e.g. I picked mine up for $3600, 2004, 5200km on the clock, never been dropped.
Aside from that, from a learners point of view, it's a great bike. :) Certainly has enough grunt in it to have fun in the twisties... although don't expect to pull off exceptional acceleration in the straights.

4500 is too much for it sadly, been looking at the ones for sale on trademe and watching the resale value of mine plummeting.

i was just in the local bike shop and found a $4500 2004 gsx250 with 3500kms and will probably trade the gn250 in for. i should get about $1500 off because of the recent drop. but give me a bell if in the next week you see a better deal around. i got to ride it . shit, compared to the gn it goes like a dream. she has plenty enough power and leans like 3 times further than the gn. i definately want 1. can anyone tell me about their reliability ive heard they are really reliable.

I'm looking at that private gsx250 on bikepoint now.
I haven't physically seen the bike yet, as the seller isn't aswering the phone (or returning calls) :(

So dveus, how easy do they wheelie?
But seriously, what do you think of them in terms of power, etc?

this is a pic of the gsx im looking @ now. wonder how much they will give me 4 the gn as a trade in. hopefuly 1500 or near. i just got the gn 5 weeks ago for $2750 so there shouldnt be a crying difference. be glad to be rid of it. :sherlock:

These bikes are definitely built to a price - and build quality seems to be pretty poor (even 4 a zuki)
A couple of guys at work have them, and both have snapped side and centre stands! (both appeared to have serious corrosion at the break point, even though bikes were only 6 months old). Parallel twin engine appears pretty unkillable, and fairing helps top speed - although a bit slow getting there as dry weight 180+ kg.
Certainly more fun than a GN, but dont expect to live with the 4 cylinder sports 250's. (not suggesting this is your goal, just FYI)

dude you'd be better off with a spada 250- Vtwin grunt and pretty decent handling

i just got the ginny valued for a trade in. i was quoted $2350 for it so i can pick this gsx uway the gsx will p for $2150 with a balance of the factory warranty [about 1 mnth but oh well]. i took the gsx for a test ride and she went like a mo'faka so i decided to by it. i also found it very comfy for my buggered, weak, bent spine. give me two weeks for my loan to come through and i have a nice 2002 gsx 250 with 8700kms in my garage! by the gsx will pull 170 pretty damn well. compared to a gn anyways. its also easier to ride than the kawasaki so, i will have one. i also considered the zzr250 but was told by an ex owner of one to stay away because of bearing problems. thanks for all the feedback.:chase: :woohoo:

doesn't make it the best one though. MANY sob stories about breaking side stands, gutless engines, hard seats, crap suspension....

i found the gsx quite toleratable, nah not really......come to think of it...... i fucken loved it! so it just goes to show it all comes down to personal preferences. i might have a look @ the stands on the one i'm buying. whats this shit about gutless engines? if yer like me and ride a gn than you will find it has a shitload more torque and its waaaaaaaaaaaaay smoooooooooother, also more comfy for me. will post some pics when i get it. thanx again 4 the feedback. the little four cylinder engined bikes cost more and the engines are way too over stresed and wont last as long as the unlightened engines of less stress. reliability is the first equal reason[ other than money] that im not getting a cbr250rr. they are heaps better perfomane wise but one with 30000kms isnt going to last me as long @ 680kms per week..

Hi bud. Have spoken quite severely about my GSX that I got in November and wrote off in February. I thought I was quite good for doing so. As for the side stands, mine snapped off. Severely corroded.
As for being gutless, it could do with the sprockets being changed. The gear changing is too constant at the lower speeds.
The bike was an extremely comfortable bike to ride. No problems in doing 700km only stopping for gas.
Got between 250 - 300km on a tank of 98 gas.
Compared to a GN though, this is a mercedez.
As for getting 170km/ph on it easily, I would dispute that. With the wind behind me on a very long straight, she just creeped up over 150.

lets take into consideration tha i only weigh 55kg and i had a tail wind. okay,it wasnt that easily but she sure did it better thon the gn doing 100k with a tail wind. i found the gsx did 150 just by openug it up in top. either way i think they are great bike to learn on and am looking foward to getting mine. im settling the deal on monday, just signed my loan papers today and i should have it on friday or before.
I HATE GN250'S :puke:

I found the GN to be extremely gutless, with the FXR150 fairing better performance wise (IMO)...but then again, my GSX hated me...and I hated it. :violin: But, going from the GN to the GSX, you sure as hell should have some fun! Enjoy it bud!
