Just read email from Fish. Please Nylon your bikes and look at getting folding footpegs so the track doesn't get damaged and we get booted off the the track.

Just saw that email too. Bl00dy hell, someone's bike wasn't up to spec to leave that sort of damage.
I hear that there was no scrutineering done also.
Know that Fishie is also quite tough on bikes and Skunk does an outstanding job running events also, so what made this happen?

I don't race the buckets anymore because of health reasons but keep an active read into what's going on.
Also, I worked friggin hard with the Kart guys to secure that Kaitoke track so all of you guys can enjoy it so don't bl00dy blow it and get booted off !!!!!
There are no alternatives closeby,....unless you want to travel to Hawkes Bay...

Hawkes Bay? we've got a one off permit to run there this year, first time in a year and a half. Noise caused the problem, as a lovely "neighbour" has an issue with anything louder than her fart and found a loophole to get bikes shut down, as she hasn't succeeded with karts.

Nearest track would be Auckland, that currently runs buckets in the North Island, otherwise one of the other tracks that we go to once a year.

fish mentioned axles in the email, but basically any metal on your bike that touches the ground when it falls over should be nyloned. Over nylon, not under. No one will mock you if you have too much.

the karts have their big meeting at Easter down there and are rightly proud of their track.

BTW George, Henk was telling me last night how much Amy has grown up and how well she was riding. Good on her, she's a lovely young lady :)

What he said

Skunk went over my bikes pretty thoroughly on Saturday morning.

Okay, I stand corrected. Been told the wrong info.
thought it was strange as I know that Skunk is really good with going over the bikes. Him and I used to team up at each event and I think I even made a checklist at one stage for the 2-day events.

I have been concerned for a while, about this kind of thing happening.
People getting too comfortable at kaitoke, and forgetting how lucky we are to have it. We have lost it once before and it won't take much to loose it again.
Not many people are left around who used to race Slipway with us, but kaitoke is seriously 50 to a 100 times better.
Anyway, i'm gonna make sure shit like this doesn't happen.

Although my bike did go down a number of times during the weekend, the crashes are inconsistent with the corners were the damage is (I wasn't riding due to a broken collarbone). We checked the bike each and every time it went down + an official recheck.
I have 5 pieces of nylon on each side (Bars/Front Axle/Middle Frame/Footpegs/Rear Axle), but will make an effort to over nylon even more so. I don't believe it was my bike.

think it would be a good idea if all clubs get together and come up with a good standard for all bikes. l did see them done differnt on other bikes from out the way that maybe ok but if you break a nylon lt would turn to shit very fast. l broke a nylon the week before hand so know it does not take much. also cheak you standard fxrs for the stock welds on the foot rests ! mine snaped of the week before and cause me to crash . the weld was shit.

Mine is nyloned in the same way. I'll have another look to see if there is anything else I can add to my FXR.

The easiest way to check your bike for where it needs to be nyloned is lie it on it's side. Where it touches is where it needs nyloning (even if it means cutting holes in the side of your seat). Maybe this could be also be done as part of scrutinering.

In saying this I have more than most, which is more to protect things like engine covers, gear change and brake mechanisms. The only two I have been lax in refitting have been the two that go through the seat (mainly through procrastination). With a new seat going on the bike they will be refitted before the next meet.

jeppers just read the emails are saw the photos.

axles, exhaust & mounts and foot peg brackets can be the only source of those deep canyons (they can only be solid metal objects).

I hope this doesn't turn square shaped for you welly guys... we do enjoy coming down
