What to wear?

Doing a trip from auckland to chch.

1st march to 3rd march.

I have teknic all weather rain gear and all inserts and also a full 2 piece leathers.

I am picking up a an r1 and riding it home.

My question is i can decide which gear to take as i can only reasonably take one lot.

Do i take the leathers with the mindset of having fun on the way home.

Or take the all weather gear...

Both are comfortable but the teknic all weather gear is bulky even without the inserts.

What do yoi guys think?

North Island, fine, apart from a few light showers in Gisborne. South Island, showers developing in Southland, and a few showers for Otago and Canterbury later, otherwise mainly fine.

Saturday
North Island, fine, apart from a few showers for Wellington,Wairarapa, and coastal Gisborne. South Island, a few showers gradually spreading north to most places, but clearing from Southland and Central Otago.

Id say there may be some light rain so the leather should be ok for you :) for breif showers but your call

Take a rubbish bag and some tape incase it does bucket down and wear that over the top ;)

What's wrong with taking both? My rain gear goes over my leathers .. so if it was a fine day I wear the leathers and strap the wet gear on the bike ... if it's a wet day I would put he wet gear over my leathers ?

(My wet gear is the same as my commuter fabric stuff - I just take out the liners ...) But same idea ... safer with both ..

Depending on the time you are riding around, don't forget your thermal gear!

Weight restriction.. Is why i cant take both the teknic gear is a suit on its own and weight 5kg

Leathers are about 6kg... And coupled with tie downs and bits and helmet comes to 15kg which is my baggage limit for my flight to akl.

Also dont want to have to take a big back pack and tank bag.

As it is i am throwing away the duffel bag when i get to auckland.

Guess i should have mentioned i am picking the bike up in auckland and am based in chch so flying up.

Riding mainly day no real late night stuff planned and the leathers are plenty warm enough with a shirt underneath.

I have a seth of thermal gear (long johns) which ill take if it gets cold enough to warrant it but i doubt it.

You can get that cheap and nasty Chinese wet gear that's only good for 1 or 2 rides.

It weighs nothing and you can always toss it away!

$19.99 or something similar from the larger $2 shops.

The one in Northcote sells them.

But they wouldt let me sit there with my helmet on.. In fact my helmet has to go as checked luggage.

yep i phoned them to check ... and helmets are not allowed into the cabin... and have to be checked in.

didn't want to risk having to fuck around with luggage so i have packed it.

Never had a problem taking a helmet as carry on myself.

Was on a Bombardier last week, kitted up like a prat. Helmet was in a backpack but wouldn't fit in the overhead and it wasn't allowed under the seat, so it had to go down it the hold.
