Well, I have to say I loved owning the SP-1. It wasn't perfect (a bit heavy and was a handful at times on the bumpy twisties), but it had bags of grunt and sounded awesome.

But, it was getting time to look at trading it in and when I was made an offer I couldn't refuse, I bought the Repsol.

HUGE thanks to WT, Riff Raff, Hayden and Grunta for wasting half a track day at Puke to take me to the bike shop, sort out finance etc. I really appreciated it. And after months of ribbing me about getting a Gixxer, when it came down to it, not one word was said. In fact everyone said I had made the right decision. (WT said it wouldn't have been the same anyway without a Honda rider in the group to give shit)

I wasn't too impressed with his suggestion to take old SH22 home though - bumpy, wet, gravelly, goats - not the best for getting to grips with a new steed. After Hayden backed off the rear suspension it was much better though.

Cheers again guys and gal - I am looooooooving it.

Really looking forward to the track day at Manfeild on the 4th. :Punk:

Congratulations, Deano! :niceone:
Don't you think you'll miss that v-twin character? Even though I love my VFR, every time I hear a VTR, TL, SV or whatever, I feel a bit bereft...

After the weekend I just had, I'm feeling a bit stuffed. Took today off sick and as much as I would love to start cleaning, putting the full sticker kit and protective film on it, I'm just too under the weather. :puke:
But happy. :spudflip:

I still say you can't beat the sound of a twin - nothing like revving it up in a tunnel and then rolling off the throttle. But, noise isn't everything.

The K3 Gixxer's of Hayden and Loosebruce sounded bloody good as they entered the first right hander at Puke, when they backed off the throttle a bit.

So far I think the general consensus is slightly in favour of the orange wheels. My best mate said they 'make' the bike.

I mean, it wouldn't be a Repsol without them would it ?

Perhaps a pair of carbon fibre wheels would be nice painted orange

Nice to meet you again MSTRS, and your family.

BTW - what is the best solvent for removing the glue for the fuel/warning/chain tension proprietory stickers that come with it ?

And can I please have your expert advice on a good protective film for the fairing and headlights ? :hitcher:

Cors it wud - in Stealth mode
You too
I use prepsol
Don't get that shit the bike shops sell. 3M make the best films & adhesive but you can't buy it from normal outlets. You could try Stripes & Graphics in Welly. Be warned tho - it is unforgiving stuff unless you know what you are doing. Headlight films are easy to use tho - just don't use the likes of LiteSkinz = too thick for polycarbonate lenses. Again S&G could help there.

Congrats on the bike Deano. It would appear you had the same intro I did with my CBR. I picked it up from Taupo in the pissing rain and made a dumb choice of going back via SH22, exactly the same experience as you - suspension hard as rocks and it was the first thing I backed off when I got it home - now its mint. I had a big third gear power slide in the wet which sux on a new bike you are already a little nervous on. I was so tense after going through there I was physically buggered by the time I got to Pukekohe. Thankfully I was with Firefight who, as usual was most understanding and we stopped for a coffee.

I have now done over 2000km of open road riding (inc. 2 up) & like you I am loving it.

Good on ya, we'll have to catch up sometime and compare notes - already the experiences are reading the same.

I dunno about best, but I usually use "Kumcleen" paintbrush cleaner (basically xylene+toluene), but you could also try petrol, then follow up with meths (to get the last remnants of petrol+gloop off).
I'd imagine the Blade is a real precision weapon to ride, if it's anything like the '05 CBR600RR I rode. That would turn corners as soon as you thought about it, with seemingly no effort at all, and the brakes were absolutely brilliant.

Cool, all jealous like.

Orange wheels, no doubt.

Steal the missus hairdryer & peel those ghey labels. Finish any residue with that orange clean label remover, the clear container with the blue label & an orange on it. By far the best label residue remover, M10 etc sell it.

Ditto on the hair dryer - just be aware the tank is plastic.

Nice one deano, we were all at the Autobarn sunday morning when you and Hayden cruised by, should've stopped in, oh well, well catch you at manfeild on the 4th :Punk: gonna be awesome.
22 grows on ya after a while. You and hayden should've taken the looonnng way home through the coro out to tauranga, but you two were prolly still trying to come to grips with waking up by taupo.
Hope you ride back was sweet man, catch in couple of weeks.

Yeah, pretty tired after a long weekend.

22 reminded me a bit of Paekakariki. Daunting at first but once you know it well it's ok.

I one/only 22 was in the dark on my F4 (which had a piss poor headlight) after having ridden from Taupo via the coromandel loop. I didn't enjoy it much to be honest. That had more to do with me being a bit stuffed. Must do it fresh one day.

A very nice looking bike indeed Deano! I've seen them in the shops...Sexy!
Although I don't know you too well personally, I kind of know you as the Honda SP-1 dude. Now it's the Honda Repsol dude and it only seems fitting to see you on another Honda after your many praising pm's about them.
As for the orange wheels.... I think they give the bike alot of uniqueness and the colour scheme is really nicely balanced.
Well done Deano, A wicked bike indeed! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

You must post us a riding review sometime - I'd be keen to read it. I've always been impressed with how smooth the Honda engines are.
