Which of these 2 would be better for a newer rider?

They're both easy. Kawakawa is a more scenic ride.

I'm planning on the Kawakawa ride this sunday (haven't been on the bike this year!) so look out for a KTM 450 six days wobbling around.

My training ride for Tussock Buster!

Im leaning towards that one as its closer to home. Nothing to tricky then. Im more worried about holding up other riders than me not making it.

I will be the fat old guy on a KDX that looks way to good for his skills. I will get the Westpac chopper to warm up when I head out.

Don't worry about other riders, just maintain a safe pace for yourself and try and ride in a straight line so others can get past easily, the riders that get into trouble are the ones that meander all over the place. Farm rides are generally very open with lots of space and, as they are family rides, everyone expects a wide range of skill levels.
Keep laughing and have a great day. I'll look out for a KDX, green is it?

Yup that's where we're heading too. We enjoyed last years Kawakawa ride. It marks the anniversary of the RMZ being the first ride I rode it there.

I'll keep an eye out for you. I have an inkling of what you look like as I once saw a glimpse of you at a woodhill ride on your XR. Kawakawa is a great fun ride.

Wet weather contingency might be Leightons if they're open.

Ive not been to the Sandpit but did a few of the Waitamata club days there. Hope I didn't hold you up to much. Wasn't laying in the middle of the track was I?

Haha yeah actually you were. It was at one of those Muriwai Bch entrance rides at Woodhill. Might even have it on video if I look hard enough!

Don't joke, my Bro went for a ride on the Westpac last Sunday, just got out of Middlemore today. A casual trail ride on his KDX200, went over the bars. Busted collar bone and ribs. Neck brace saved his life, have fun, stay safe.

We did the Spectro ride yesterday, not a lot of riders there......:baby: was a short loop & in the dry would have possibly been pretty average, but in the wet......whole different story  had heaps of fun, had heaps of "Ohhhhh Shit!!" moments too, got covered in crap, got sideways, got up big ass sloppy hill that lots of boys were having issues with ( go the mighty Husaburg ) had raindrops needling into the face on the ridges of big hills..... ahhhhhh  overall a cool day. Guts to all of those who are scared of melting - you missed a lot of fun!

now gotta clean everything for Tussock
