Hey there
I'll be looking to sell my ninja 250 in the next few weeks. I just wondered before I advertise what the going rate is now for a 250? With all the lams changes I presume the demand for 250's has reduced. It's a 2009, green, 11,000ks on the clock, vgc, just been serviced (has service history), new rear tyre and pads and wof until next Feb. I was thinking $4500, but obviously I don't want to aim too high and have no interest, but I do need a quickish sale so I can give my mate the cash for his triumph!
Cheers

Given the year and mileage, 4.5 might not be too far off, there are still much older (late 80s, early 90s) 250s going for mid three.
Might find you get someone who really wants one. The looks will help at least

I picked up an '08 ex250 about 2 months ago now, was just over $4800 with 20k on the clock but it was very tidy, dont underestimate how hard it is to find a 250 that hasnt been for a slide... trade me at the time seemed like the average was 5,500+ with a few listed over 6k. LAMS doesnt appear to have dropped the 250 prices instead its more likely raised the approved bikes prices...

I'd start closer to $5k if I were you. I picked up mine for $4k from a mate a year ago but it's an 08 and had 38,000 on it, and he was giving me a deal.
Start at $5k and work down to $4.5k if it doesn't move quick enough for you.

Agreed, start higher because you may find someone will offer you a few hundred less than your advertised asking price, and if you've already set that at say $5k, bingo you get a quick sale and more than posting it at your minimum price.
People will always try bargin you down, unless they really want it. :D good luck

Good to hear the value of 250s seems to be keeping up there. Good to start a few hundred up and be bargined down to what you actually wanted, that way everyone feels they win

I recently bought a 250 ZZR for $1700. It was a 1990 model with 30,000km on the clock. So your pricing sounds pretty reasonable.

Put it on trademe with lots of pics and a good description. People will be falling over themselves to buy it. I suspect that you might get a bit more than $4500. You should be aiming for more than that.
By the way, why did you need new pads? Do you ride the brakes?
