+1 on that. Your English, well the kiwi version, will improve by getting involved in some of the slanging matches on KB ;)

Thanks for your welcome,
it`s nice for me,i like the time all the years if i travelling through NZ. First time in 1998,all 2 years for 6 weeks in your country.LOVELY!!! in december 2013 we came back...
Now i will bring my little BMW in october to NZ for the next holiday-trip.Our friends,my wife an d me wont to drive with the bike.We need help for the excursion this bike bring to NZ.Not from Germany, better is the Way from Ship to the Harbour in the Country.
Next problem is the notification and the WOF for this bike.I think we drive better with the german Numberplate ,is a international autorization?OK.What`s your idea to my problem?

Regarding improrting your bike.... people to talk to is NZTA http://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicle/importing/

I am not sure if you can get 'temporary' import authorisation, to use the bike on the roads for just a while

Otherwise you will probably have to go through the full entry certification, including registering it in NZ and getting a plate.

Welcome to the site Szambo ... and I look forward to maybe meeting you during your travels here.

It depends a lot on if the bike will be taken out of the country after the visit. Import duties may not apply if it will be. The bike will not be able to be sold in New Zealand afterwards though ... and can create issues in the case of write-off insurance accidents.

The overseas plate can be used for Registration ... (like a personalized plate) .. if no plate with the same number is being used at the time. Then usual Registration and Warrant of Fitness rules apply.
