Running lights?

Hey KB,

A little problem.
After commming back from the beach hop this weekend, the masport (Suzuki Boulevard S40) has developed a problem with the running lights.

My right front indicator is no longer lit when running, but still goes when I indicate Right. With My limited knowledge I guess this means that the bulb and connectors are ok as the light still goes when indicating, but why would it not be lit all the time?

Does the bulb have one or two elements in it (as a brake light bulb has) .. ???

Basic indicator light bulbs have 4 separate contacts and 2 filaments. One high watt filament for indicating and a smaller one for the running light function. If you unscrew the indicator housing and pull out the bulb, you should find that the smaller fillament has blown or it's contacts are stuffed.
Time for a new bulb there mate.

speaking from almost total ignorance here, but are you sure the bulb uses the same filament for indicator and running light? :Oops: guess it does otherwise how would you get the off phase for the indicator. :whistle:

100% correct.
I did this during smoko, then road down the road to the local auto sparky got new bulb, all fixed.
