Hi guys I have an RD350LC engine in an of road buggy I was thinking of getting rid of. It runs and all but is missing the cover that says Yamaha, factory kick start and spark plug lead has been cut and taped as it kind of broke.. This worth anything? I guess it must be pretty rare nowadays, could someone give me an indication of price and/or best place to sell it? (EBay perhaps?)We'll call it a parts engine, even though it runs as its far from mint. Thinking of swapping it out for a newer 4 stroke engine as its too high geared for my buggy, but won't bother if its only worth $150 as I'll be looking at 500+ for any sort of decent replacement engine
Cheers

Hiya, it all depends on condition really, has the crank had a rebuild in the last few years, the centre part of the crank does not come apart to rebuild them and Yamaha no longer makes them, you can buy complete new cranks but expensive, how is the gearbox for changing gears etc and knowing what size of bore it is on would help, putting it on trade-me would be the best way to get a fair price, by the sound of your description I reckon a fair price is between $300 and $500 which I'm sure would be acheivable on trade-me, I'd give you $300 for it anyway to help you get the ball rolling.

Cheers for reply. I have no idea of any maintainance done on it, tho being on an offroader I'd say it hasn't been used much over the years. Starts pretty easily people tell me it must be in decent condition for a two stroke to start up like that. Gear shaft is stripped so linkage is welded on and box oil is watery - supposedly water pump seal I forgot to mention that. So probably not in the condition to bolt up and go riding. Might have more success going for a swap? Really I just want electric start and low end grunt. Reverse would be nice but short of a performance quad engine I don't see that happening ..
Cheers

Hayabusa engine would be nice, but i'm young and don't wanna die yet. it's only a sidewinder type buggy.. perhaps i should've said go kart lol
Anyway here's some pics. Only just noticed crack in crankcase cover, must have happened last time i took it out

Don't give it away, they're not everywhere and those that really need one will pay for it. Start the bidding at a grand, you can always reduce it if you need to be rid of it in a hurry.
Two stroke owners are generally whores that hoard a lot of shite, make them pay for it (they will).

Kinda what i thought. Definitely won't be giving it away, i really like this engine it pulls hard and screams like an asian hooker. But the thought of electric start, not having to premix two stroke (not sure if mixer works) and a somewhat quieter sounding engine is drawing me towards a four stroke. Can hear this thing for miles away i'm surprised i haven't had cops or the council on my case yet..
BTW i don't really expect to get a grand for it, but if someone wants to pay that much then thats cool too. All i really want is enough to replace with a 50hp+ four stroke, preferably with a bit of low down grunt to boot

"Would swap SV650 engine" :D
Would definitely consider that.. though i don't want anything too big and heavy. Any idea of the weight difference?

Wait, are you joking? Have no idea what they're worth either

I've no idea, but it seems ideal... common, bit of torque. If nothing else, it'll let readers of your ad know that you're open to trades of that nature :)

Yep get looking in the back of your sheds people.. Will consider anything 400cc+ but prefer torque over RPM...
