A survey conducted by Ho Chi Minh City council has shown that about two-thirds of people surveyed agree with the idea of limiting the number of people travelling by motorbike – by far and away the most common form of transport - in order to solve traffic congestion.
The report concluded that 63.6 per cent of respondents agreed that State officials and civil servants should be encouraged to commute by bus twice a week, except for those who need to take their children to school.
Bizarrely, there seemed to be no restriction wanted for cars, with participants saying families should be allowed one or two cars providing they had private parking.
