Not race/track ones, for some reason I've discovered an interest in road/gravel going ones.

I know there's a couple of people on KB that have them, Peteblen for instance has 2, Oscar has one. Who else is out there?

What about little off road ones?

Old chap in Te A has a goldwing sidecar set up. I couldn't believe the fuel consumption when he told me. The weight and drag of the car just about doubles his fuel usage.

If I won lotto, among the many bikes I'd buy would be a Ural fitted out with a side car.

Here is my BMW r75/5 with Watsonian GP outfit at the 1995 Brass Monkey ( I think )....its all in bits in the shed these days...in the queue.
Was a good machine, took it around Europe a bit, up to Arctic Circle and a couple of Elefant rallies....I no longer like the cold.
Bit hard to ride a LH rig on the other side of the road but it builds up good arm muscles.

started out on a wet weekend a couple of years ago with a hacksaw and then got completely out of control. Handles really nice (unlike my first attempt some years ago)

Iv always been curious, how do you actaully steer with a side car on ? Do you still lean/counter steer or do you turn the wheel more in the direction you are turning ?

Riding with a side car is something I would love to have a go at one day. Just to feel the difference.

Nice, how do you find the reliability? You read horror stories on the net.

A combonation is a lot more like riding a quad. You turn the handlebars the direction you want to go. It is slow turning left and fast turning right espcially without a person in the car.

I have has a few problems, its 30's side valve technology after all. I ran a big end, it cost me $200 for a complete new crankshaft, I did take the opportunity to fit modern thin ring pistons which cut the oil consumption by 90% (and a lot of heat) and did a port and polish job at the same time. The pistons, rings and gudegons cost $50. I also munted a gear box, seems there was a loose bit-bracket thing in it that jammed between two gears. A new, yes new in grease gear box cost me $500.

I had a new BA ford falcon work ute a few years ago it blew a gear box, did a ABS unit and used to go out of tune every 8,000km. I also had a toyota hilux that used to regually need a set of injectors every 30-40k that cost $5k every time. I would say I wasn't able to do my own, and enjoy doing my own repairs this would be a terrible bike.

It's a great bike if you enjoy fixing bikes. Parts are cheap cheap cheap and available. If you ever want to go for a ride on one you can borrow mine.

Have a look at this supplier, I have brought quite a lot of parts from him, they arive about 5 working days after ordering. $20 for a complete gasket set, $40 for a std set of pistons....... http://stores.ebay.com/MH-MOTO-WORLD

Probably not, because the turning moment from the side car will push the bike to the left accellerating and it will be difficult to ride.

I almost almost bought a Ural outfit last year. Only I've run out of brownie points at home. I do like the look of those military outfits. Just add a LMG and we could make the country a better place haha

Was hard (bloody impossible) finding someone local with the skills, but have had some awesome luck with Roger Stent possibly after shoving into his letter box many photos of what his triumph could look like with one attached agreeing to help me.

Not sure this chair body is the way to go, but from what I have been told, its spent most of its life next to a Veloccette and deserves to be back on the road.
