Hi guys,

Just a few questions. Am planning on getting the wheels of my cibby and just wanting to know if anyone has done it and where you went. Am based in Auckland. Also how long would the bike be out for when doing it?

Cheers

I am not in Auckland, but the exercise is remove all the wheel bearings, get them lightly sandblasted i paid $25.00 per wheel, allow 2 days, powdercoating allow 4 days approx and you will pay around $40.00 wheel, they will come up nice and they have a big choice of colours.
Hope that helps.
Cheers

I use to fit motorcycle tyres for a living and have seen plenty of powder coated wheels so just a little advice. Leave the wheels for a couple of weeks before getting the tyres refitted to allow the powder coat to harden off or the powder coat will bond the refitted tyre, and then when you get the next set of tyres fitted as they are removed they will tear the powder coat off around the tyre beading surface. Some times they would tear most of the powder coat off the main part of the wheel.

I'm thinking a quality car paint would be better than powder coating. Easy to change colour later and is durable.

Get them painted using a 2 pack. Powder coating can be a prick cos it covers EVERYTHING and you then have to remove it from some surfaces.
