Sunday was just a dusty maize paddock.
Next month is in a dusty grass paddock..
Asking at briefing if anyone has land they could use, things do not look good.
Can't see there being a decent MX style track sorted out this year. Huntly winter series TT champs..

Bet Slater park is just sitting there growing weeds, but now owned by transit NZ and not available for use.

I heard it was a bit Dusty,

When the MX park was first put thier they knew the motorway could go though thier, and the amount of days they had use thier was always going to make it hard to be viable,

I sort of hope that HUntly can get some decent tracks sorted, when i grew up racing thier clubdays there was some awesome tracks around Niake, Te Kauwhata, proper natural terrain MX tracks, we dont get alot of that sort of racing up here anymore, but with the drought this year, i think farm land will be very hard to get though winter as everyone will be needing any grass they have, its not easy to mark and pack up tracks and the amount of helpers that are willing to do it are never enough

I hope they can too, be awesome to get back to some old school natural terrain stuff if they can't sort a permanent track.
Numbers will dwindle and hurt the club if it's all just average paddock/maize moto's and bungy starts.
Shame it does not look too good for this year though, hope someone comes through.

Funny, I'm sure I confused a few of the trail ride boys yesterday, heading north in the morning past the Mr Moto ride to the MX on SH22 with the bike on the back, brakes on pulling over looking back wondering if they were going the right way!
And there was one very confused quad rider lost heading back up 22 on the way home along with some crazy drivers heading back, looked like an awesome turnout.

yeah they got over 500 riders up thier, it was a bit of a pain having both events so close on the same day, but the HUntly Club and Craig from MR Moto worked together to try and mark it the best they could, dirt bike riders are lemmings at times tho, both on the road and the track,

how many riders they have at huntly do you know?

Around about 100 bikes I recon.

nick at thunder park has a couple of good mx tracks that hes always improving on. have they approached him, or is there a resource consent issue around that area?

I would imagine they have thought about it as the race on the weekend was only a couple of k's away just over the hill from ThunderX.
From what I hear those tracks at ThunderX wouldn't suit club mx. Maybe a bit narrow and technical?
They recon they need 20 acres for a track and 10 for parking. And a track wide and safe enough to handle 20-40 nutters round the first corner and beyond dicing it up without too much potential carnage.
I think there is also some MNZ specification somewhere they have to work to.
