it may be that to take a cheaper option on postage for you they have to drive somewhere else and stand in a queue to get postage and they don't have an account with that outfit so have to pay another way then log their receipts into their company book work, all for you saving a couple of quid.
did you offer to pick up?

It may be a tad difficult to attach stamps to "four small exhaust nuts" ...

Packaging costs ... and time spent packaging them for postage costs.

Not happy ... shop elsewhere.

Some people are just arses. (It may have been other customers who made him mad, but by your description you didn't deserve the agro). Just get 'em elsewhere next time.

P.S. I vote "penis". A small one, probably.

How much would it have cost you to buy them from a bike shop - including your own time and travel costs?

Unfortunately a cheap deal isn't good enough for some people. What a moaner.

Whinging Pom:

A person of British origin who will consistently complain about any situation that they may face. They are emotionally unable to deal with any sort of adverse condition without commenting negatively about it.

The typical ‘whinging pom’ can be often located in such global locations such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada. Though also found in multiple other locations in high concentrations (such as the USA), they tend to countries that at least pay some lip service to their beloved monarchy.

That's just nuts, innit?

You knew the conditions AND the price ... but you paid anyway.

Your words ..

so I pay but put on message could he do postage a bit cheaper.

In writing ... it's hard to read feeling/mood. Perhaps he thought you were a Pom.

Did you get a refund .. ???

Really?...well that puts things in a different light.
He does sound like a coozer with an attitude that needs adjustment....or loosening.
Whats wrong with...''no worries mate, just come and get them''?

thepom

I paid in full...just mentioned maybe he could do something cheaper with the postage.....they were ten dollars worth of nuts....eight fifty postage....obvioiusly a sore point about postage...I,m sure other people will have mentioned it before....its not as though it were in the north island or a rural delivery......big fan of the urban dictionery too...ha ha love the flak....

I only ordered them cos I could not get an immediate answer from trevor pierce untill later....as it turns out Plenter gave me a full refund and parts will be here on monday from the ever friendly Yamaha dealer mr Pierce...and saved eight dollars fifty on postage.....I think Mr Plenter must be genius as to be able to run a business so successfully that he can turn customers away and still charge a criminal amount for postage

When you look at it maybe he was making $5 on the nuts
To save you $5 on postage would cost him 1/2 hr of dicking around
Whats his time worth ? at $10 an hr he is working for free.
If he is worth any more than that the whole episode is costing him money.
He did the right thing, better to make $0 than -$20

Will your "Ever friendly Yamaha dealer" ... deliver ... ??? or do you spend your time and fuel to collect ... ??? (unless both are free ... did you save anything ??)

"postage" is probably a courier, for which 8.50 sounds pretty bloody cheap actually

6th April 2013, 17:03
Unfortunately some guys take it personally when asked if they will give a discount, and this guy sounds like an extreme case. He coulda just explained that the $8.50 just covers his courier charges and then let you decide what you want to do.

So you agreed to his offer, and then tried to renegotiate.

Good on him, I would have done the same.

have been the sender $8.50 will be courier cost which means it will get to you. The only cheaper option would be to send it via snail mail and in my experience after you sent the third lot you might receive your order as NZpost would have lost the first two lots that where sent, and you would save a couple of dollars tops not worth the hassle.

I've dealt with plenternz beforeand they seem to have a minimum postage rate, which is fine when you're ordering several parts.

But, when anyone can go buy a bunch of courier bags and keep them at your store/warehouse and make shipping cheaper, I don't see the point.

They've always been good to me though and have some relatively hard to find parts for a few of my bikes and they get them posted up here pretty quick.
But, exhaust nuts? Why don't you just go to a hardware store, or http://tradetools.co.nz/ or any similar group, where they don't charge you a million bucks per 30c part?

your $2.50 item became $4.50 or something. Even $2.50 seems too much to me. Do you not have duct tape or zip ties in your shed?

I see from your sig line you have hondas an yamahas. www.econohonda.co.nz. www.davidsilverspares.co.uk, www.cmnsl.com are all good sites for parts for old Hondas.

no idea about yamahas but there must be equivalents. Trying to be helpful, since you might have a bike off the road for want of four nuts. (heh heh "nuts" )

AllanB
7th April 2013, 19:07
It is high for dispatching 4 nuts.

Presuming they send stuff out a lot he should have a good rate with a NZ courier company - a A5 courier bag would cost half that delevered.

I would suspect he has a minimum cost to cover handling and the likes (still has to find your 4 bolts in the warehouse etc) so it would be better stating there is a minimum charge.

As an expom, I must say, you seem to forget that you're not in UK anymore.
You've lost a supplier and the possible help from him for the sake of a couple of quid.
I'd say he's best shot of your trade..........and whinging.

I'm guessing ... if the OP orders more stuff from the guy ...and pays the required amount. (No questions asked) ... goods WILL be sent.

If you don't like the price of something, don't buy it. If you can't be fucked going to a shop to purchase goods (which if you put a dollar amount on your time, fuel, vehicle overhead costs, parking etc etc the postage costs are probably well competitive) you will have to live with the options available online.

Or asking stupid amounts to ship to an RD address and it turns up in a pre-payed bag?
RD address shipping pisses me off to no end.

As a seller, I've found it just as easy to give a fixed postage price. This can cover the drive to the post office, parking (not here mind), time and inconvenience. I also offer courier to be priced when winner's address known.
You're normally welcome to pick it up if not happy with a quoted postage.

even though I send to an RD in a prepaid bag they still charge my account for an RD $4.50 in my case, so it may not be all it seems, live in country pay the price

I've never been charged extra for sending to an RD.
I can understand an extra fee though. But our postal system is pretty poo, Bunnythorpe, for example, is 6 minutes from Palmerston north and has no letter box system.

I have now book marked his site. Always happy to fine new options for buying bits. Means you can shop round for the best price (best courier price that is, who cares what you pay for the parts).
