My mate has one. He likes it but mentions it gets pretty damn cold and isn't so good in the wet. He got hit in the chest by a sparrow at 100K and didn't come off so some of that foam padding dampens any impact.

He commutes about 30KM a day and still uses it, I have offered him a more weatherproof jacket for free but he still clings on to the hoodie and just chucks a jacket on underneath.

Hope that helps.

Missed that BBQ, I have a dririder jacket, 3 1/2 years now, it's doing OK, a couple of zip tags broken, but otherwise in good nick. Not so dri in consistent rain, but a brief shower is OK.

I would have been at the BBQ but work got in the way.... again.

Have you treated the jacket, B did tell me they could be treated to be more waterproof but I cant remember with what?

picked up jacket yesterday and rode all afternoon/night dont really like the elasticated waistband as is rides up leaving your lower back/ crack exposed n a bit chilly, went for a ride in the afternoon with the liner removed, which leaves the nylon outer shell and the flimsy mesh liner, not the safest feeling, the hood turns into a parachute at 80+ km/h. The back pad feels like a piece of foam camp mattress cut to shape and the elasticated wrists dont go nicely over gloves and tend to ride up leaving your wrists exposed.

Right thats the bad, but aside from that with the liner installed its warm, super comfortable and you dont feel like robocop when you jump off to go into a shop or the like, no stupid straps all over it, not covered in zips n pocket, the pockets that it does have are in clever places that are easy to get to with ya gloves on and i love the pocket in the left sleeve for your keys, clever as

despite all the down sides im really happy with it and dont regret the purchase ($299) but will keep an eye out for another jacket that would be better suited to longer rides and trips that would require a bit more protection

So I will ask the question....

A riding garment that rides up leaving skin exposed on the back and wrists will provide how much protection? Sketch you need to realise that EVERY trip requires more protection.

My 4 year old revit jacket sounds in exactly the same condition - I've replaced the broken zip tags with cable ties. Not sure there's much difference between brands at the cheaper end of the market.

I've just sprayed mine with revit 'texspray' ready for winter

Personally don't think it waterproofs it so much as stops the outer shell getting saturated as quickly as it might otherwise.

for the umpteenth time...textile is inherently NOT waterproof. NO spray you purchase will fix the problem.

and Sketch, if you have finished tagging, I might be able to do something with your jacket to fix a few of the obvious faults. GTRMan is correct tho, if it rides up at the back you have ZERO protection. drop it around, Im in Lower HUtt. NO charge for looking at it and giving an opinion about whether its worth fixing

What size are you Sketch? I have a jacket that I will donate to the cause, it will require a little attention from the Ratmistress for a torn tag on the sleeve but it will be way safer than what you are describing in this hoody.

Don't gamble with your skin, the road plays for keeps.

it has actually gotten a lot better after wearing it all weekend, the elastic has loosened up a bit on the waist and wrists and i was noticing yesterday how snugly it now sits around my gloves, the waist also has a velcro part that flips down and attaches to pants with the same system, the hoods removable it simply zips off, iv found a back armour plate that fits perfectly in the pocket and im actually overall quite happy with it now. thanks for all the concern and all but im fine for now

Yeah about the waistband... You need to make an incision on both sides of the waistband to enable you to cut out some of the elastic. Then the waistband is ok :)
