Hi
I have just started looking to getting a moped to use for transport at university but i have no idea where i can park it long term as the university does not have a car park for residence. I have looked on trade me for a parking space but they all seem to be for cars costing $50^. This there any cheaper places i can park the moped in Auckland i'm looking around $20 a week but i'm not sure if that price is correct.

You're not allowed to leave your bike/moped parked there overnight. The parking building is very full nearly everyday, and at times you can be hard pressed to find a spot. The bike area is monitored and people who park illegally are warned before being banned.

yeah bro, you can park on my lawn, it's only a 200km walk from here... only 900$ an hour, too, a fucken bargain, really.

This is not correct, you can park overnight if you like, but more importantly be aware that the Wilson close the doors in the evening and then open them again in the morning.
Any students/staff who can give me a legitimate reason why they need late night entry/exit can apply to me - through PM here - to get an access card for the Wilson. One word of warning though, its a bit tempermental and does not always function perfectly.

This is totally correct, and abusers will lose the right to use the facility and be removed at their own cost. It has happened. Anyone leaving through the entry will be banned instantly. If the facility is full then you must find somewhere else to park. We are working on new facilities, but these take time. Providing this area is extremely expensive for the University. Keeping it in operation are only a few interested parties. You can support them, and me, by making the University aware you appreciate the facility and would like additional facilities. A positive rather than negative approach will get better results.

My bad, I assumed you weren't allowed to being a private car park and all...
What's the deal with people parking in there for long terms? There's been a scooter in there with a rain cover on it that hasn't moved for a while. It was previously parked outside and then moved in.
What about establishing a use-the-damn-park-properly-or-gtfo rule?
It's very frustrating to see bikes/scooters parked in odd directions taking up unecessary space or when they park with a gap that isn't big enough to fit another bike in, but is too far apart to leave 'space' between them. (if that made sense...)

Cheers for that it has made it a lot clearer :2thumbsup

If you have any issue like this PM me the details and date and I will look into it. In the AUT motorbike thread I posted on this as well.

Yep - although sometimes when they parked they parked OK, then another bike moves out and is replaced by a smaller bike giving the illusion that they parked badly. Its hard to tell if it was really their fault unless you see them parking - but of course I have seen some stupid and selfish parking decisions!
I would not recommend anyone tries to move scooters to create gaps though, in case of damage to property ...
Just to clarify on earlier posts - leaving a bike overnight occaisionally is OK, but this is not a permament place to leave you bike. Anyone abusing the facility in this way will be removed.
