Ktm rc8?

Hello all, I was looking for any one on here with an ktm RC8,I am considering selling my RSV and buying one and was looking for thoughts and rider info.

I see nearly all of them for sale seem to be 2008 models, I take it KTM dont bring them in any more?

I see that one and two at Cyclespot honda in Auckland, Im in Foxton so armed hopefully with information a trip north is on the cards!

Street and Sport in Christchurch have one on the floor for sale also. I had a dribble on it on Saturday.

But not half as much of a dribble as on the IMMACULATELY restored Ducati 750F1 parked beside it. It was nicer than when they were new.

I would love to own one and they don't seem to be overprice like most bikes on trademe.

I really like the look of them, don't do many test rides but was motivated enough to take one of the early 1150's for a spin. Have to say I was disappointed. The fuelling from a closed throttle wasn't just annoying it was downright unpleasant, it was either way overgeared or down on grunt 'cos it just didn't feel like a superbike (1098 would kick it's arse, never mind an 1198 or jappa thou'). I didn't think much of the dash, too much info in too small a space making it hard to read.

Nice to have bags of adjustability in the riding position, comfortable, but the handling was nothing special, on the slow side. The only real standout postive for me was the awesome brakes. I really wanted to like it before I even climbed on it, but it made my admittedly bombed/ohlins suspended old 2000 model R1 at the time look bloody good: it fuelled better, went harder, was more agile and I enjoyed the ride home a lot more than I enjoyed the test ride.

Know what you mean but I have also had a chance to ride a set up bike with a -1 front sprocket...bloody awesome, how it should be.
I ended up buying a 1098S but mainly because I was working at a Duca shop at the time.

Cool, a simple sprocket change is an easy transformation and I understand the later 1190's sorted the fuelling. The RC8-R's put a tent in my trousers and must be a great bit of kit to win the German Superbike Championship (IDM). Time to book another test ride....?

Indeed re the sprocket, was the same for my 1098S, both Superdukes and the big bang R1's.
Just too bloody leggy and I prefer to have punch out of a corner than 300kmph.

Essentially anything with a V2...change the sprocket IMO

well thanks for your thoughts, I understand that a throttle tube from an R model also helps out with the low end response.

Any one here own one that would care to comment?

Hey i rode a RC8 while back and found it great and a refreshing change from all the jappas Ive owned/ridden.Ive ridden and love 1098/1198s and there insane but i really liked the RC8. I want one. This one did have a akrapovic exhaust and sounded great, it had the throttle cam changed to make it smoother and the rear sprocket changed to gear it down. I haven't ridden any others but going by that one the sprocket change is a must as i can imagine it must have been really tall geared.
