Hello.
I am very new to this forum and find it to be full of great information and general advise from its members.
I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask....
I am looking to borrow / swap / rent a large motorcycle that can carry a pillion with a bit of comfort. If the wife is not happy.... No one is ))))
I have a 2008 Kawasaki GTR1400 Concourse set up for touring with GPS, music, intercoms ect....
I am hoping to find someone with a similar size bike that would be happy for a stranger, mature age , with 40 years riding experience which can be used for a short 2-3 trip with my Motorcycle Club ( Clubman Tourers ) www.clubman.org.au
Most members are renting bikes for 2 weeks or so.
I'm hoping to find someone that would be willing to loan me a bike from 21-12-2013 to 6-1-2014... Exact dates are flexible.
I will be riding around your wonderful Islands on tar sealed roads unless you have a GS for KTM 990...
My Wife will join me for a few days to make my ride "complete " ...
In return, you will have access to my cycle located in Sydney.. Only 5 mins from the airport.. Can even pick u up if I am off duty from work.
If this might work, please send me an email to either
Robert@Clubman.org.au.
Or
Spit1rob@police.nsw.gov.au
Cheers

I did a similar thing last year, using a guys bike for 2 weeks from sydney to tassie and back. Had a ball and really appreciated the guy trusting me etc with his bike. Sadly he probably won't reciprocate as we have heard nothing from him since we left. I hope someone takes you up on this offer, maybe you could add more details of your ride route etc. I haven't ruled out swapping with you myself! I have a DL1000 with full luggage, tank bag etc. But I have a tour booked early dec and will not get back till mid dec. Also, I am in the far north, you heading up that way?

Hello Laava.
Thank you for your email.
Glad you got a ride here in Aus.
Isn't Tass a great place ? I love the roads there.
Our touring club tries to get there every few years for a 2 week
Run..
Your bike would be perfect for what I a, looking for.. I had a Honda Varadero which was very similar to the DL.
The plan is most of our club members will arrive on the 21st December and spend a day sorting out their bike.
Some have shipped theirs over, most are hiring bike from either New Zealand Motorcycle rentals of
From John Raines ..
The main group are arriving in Christchurch and will end at Auckland on about the 10th Jan.
Others will arrive in Auckland a day or two earlier, arrange their bikes and meet up with the main group a few days later in Wellington.
If you are not back from you run by then, see if you can catch up with us when we do the northern loop up around the Bay...
We have 2 or 3 NZ coppers who will be riding with us and are happy to show is the good back roads..No doubt we will have to return the gesture when they visit )).
as far as your bike goes, if it is available, I would be happy to have the bike serviced with fresh rubber at my cost. If they are fairly new , then I can replace them at the end if the trip.
anyway, please let me know your thoughts and I look forward to hearing from you.
Btw, if you are not back in time from your trip, you are still most welcomed to grab my bike when your in Sydney.
Cheers
Rob....

Hi Darryl and Helen.
Great to hear from you guys....
Club is still going strong , just the riders seem to be getting older )
Beacham is still around but doesn't get out much these days.
Leapling Llew is still here riding. I'm not sure who was here back then but we had a 25 year reunion which was well attended by the more senior members.))
Next time you come over, let me know and I'm sure I can get you guys on a bike for small run.
Spoke to Big Greg who remembers 2 members heading over the NZ .. I'm guessing it was you guys.
If you would to catch up, we are doing a ride in NZ from 21 dec to 11 jan.. First part will be Nth Island.. Send me your email address and ill keep you in the loop of just log onto the web site ,
Www.clubman.org.au. And register as a guest.. It's free..

Hope you have the tank filled up on the 14 Rob! Or do you want me to run in the New Tiger?
Be good if you can provide some decent weather too! I have a boat trip organised for South straddie too! See you soon bro!

She'll be ready.. washed, shaved and clean underwear....
Found the back rest for the top box. booked in next week for a service. been raining here and I didn't want to get wet :)))
do you want me to post over the side pannier inner bags so you can pre pack and know how much room you have ?
No lunch getting a Tiger as yet.
Funny they won't play even with the 2012 plated bikes.. $15999 plus on road ... same price for a 2014 plated bike... it is the same bike I know but you would think the 14 model is worth more ...
I know it's shallow , but I do like the SE model with the red frame... extra $1k... but then, I can be just as shallow :))))
Shame your not staying.. looking for a builder to build our house..
Remind me to give the Etag for the toll roads.. cannt pay on these anymore and the charge to pay over the phone to the tag is so much easier..
Ok, so will see you when you get here but we will chat b4 then I'm sure.
Have a good weekend...
Rob
Kindest Regards,
Rob Spitz.

Just a follow up on my bike swap idea
Just a short note to say how successful this turned out...
I had a few replies, all were great.
Eventually did a swap with a really nice fellow from Nth NZ .
I flew over, he collected me from the airport and had the bike ready to go.
I had 3 weeks of FUN riding around New Zealand.. im still smiling.
He and his lovely Mrs flew over here to Sydney. I returned the favor and collected them from the airport.
I think they had a great time on my bike and left Sydney smiling as well.
Great result and I even made a new friend...
Well worth the effort !!!!

Yeah mate worked out really well for both of us! We haven't ruled out coming over again to put some rough edges on that new Explorer!
We just did a freezing cold ride from Chch to home and I got abused by the frozen one on the back! When it got to 6 degrees and raining she gave up and just let me have it. Why did you bring me here etc etc. we still live in the same house together and she has calmed down a bit!:laugh::no:

Glad that worked out for the two of you. A lot of trust involved but good energy perpetuates. Good on you for making the world a better place.
Stupid phone / Tapatalk, apologies in advance.

Yep, a little bit of faith required! My insurance covers my bike for other rider and vice versa. Aussie is so close to us as well so the flights are cheap and regular. More people should do this!
