I have just come back from another stint working in Japan. While bike parts there can be expensive I think here they are far more so in general. Do you think there would be a market for parts sourced direct from Japan? I speak/read/write Japanese pretty well so it would not be hard for me to search around a bit for the right price. I may have a willing contact over there too.
Just curious ... let me know what you think.

You could look into being a 'proxy' for auction sites like yahoo japan. A few people already do it, basically people send you the max amount they are willing to spend on an item and you bid on the item then redirect the part to NZ and add a fee for your time.

Or just act as an agent to source specific parts for an existing (already) licensed importer.

Interesting idea. Thanks.

There's a few sites out there that stock parts for Japanese motorcycles (unfortunately I can't read japanese so I can't be of much help there), Ebay is another good place to check too.
