I'm after some good leather pants

Well the last bit of gear I need now is some leg protection, and after having a friend come off and shred his knee, I think it's time i put some serious thought into grabbing a pair of pants.

The budget is upto $200 and I'm not sure whether to go for leather or textile... I ride daily, clocking about 40kms a day, most of it on the motorway. Having hard protection for the knees is a must and also hip padding.

I will be riding in the rain and I have rain over-trousers but not needing to use them would be a plus.

Fellow kiwibikers, could you please help a learner out with some recommendations? I'm also open to buying a secondhand pair (size 32) :)

not quite as waterproof, but regular beeswaxing works for me..
Bibs stay on well and keep you windproof and warm/dry.
Bought my leather bibs on trademe for fuck all, and then spend $100 or so for somebody to alter them for me.

secondhand leather. depends on your waist size and leg lenght but if you fit a stock size you are golden. You likely dont need knee sliders.

something like that but they are 2.5 x as expensive as they should be (hence this is their fourth or fifth go-round on tardme). I bought a Dainese leather jacket in perfect condition with armour and stuff for $200. secondhand leather (if looked after) is broken in. Its great.

Leather is the way to go.

I gave up on cordura years ago and stuck with just one pair of leathers + the rainproofs for when it properly rains.

Size 32 must be inches right?...I have a pair of Revit leather pants here in good condition, size is 54 (euro sizing?) don't know what that equates to in local cms. (My jeans are size 35)
Knee/Hip padding/protection and not of the knee slider variety...no rips/splits and fairly water proof to be honest, they tuck into your boots and thats where the rain gets in
But, if you want to try them on and you like/want them, I will throw in a Dri Rider one piece rain suit for the total price of $85.
Rain suits had been worn 2-3 times...it's like new.

After my little 35 to 40 kph slide I dont think I will be going back to cordura. Try Lifestyle imports in Pukekawa, Drury tyres has there stuff also.

Thats an awesome deal mate but size 54 would be too big :( I'm a 82.5cm waist. I think I'm sold on buying some leathers. The 1tonne terminator look decent but my size is sold out.

Might have to keep an eye out for another good brand secondhand pair to come out

I have 1tonne leather pants. have been for s skate once or twice at the track at above highway speeds and they held up really well!

They might be slightly above your budget though, maybe look for seconds hand of a reputable brand if you cant stretch a little further to buy new?

I've got the terminators and can vouch for them. Good pants, well made, comfy and have lasted really well.

1tonne doesn't have any of the above mentioned in my size.... They must be clearing out old stock before bringing in new stock.

I did have a small off in them and they have been repaired sop still in excellent condition, gimme a buzz if you keen.
