Good places to ride your trail bike near Christchurch?

im new to christchurch looking for some good places to ride my unregistered trail bike around christchurch

I used to go up around the Ashley Gorge area way back when. The summit road ain't too bad either as I recall, for a short local trip.

EDIT: Duhhhh...I should read the posts more thoroughly.

Did a bit of off road stuff along the banks of the Waimak at times...

Go here, but instead of turning into the park drive to the end of the sealed rd, over the stop bank, take next obvious left and park up at end. Look for obvious tracks and just follow your nose. Hours of area to play in.

The Port Levy Trailride is on the 12th (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/158367-Port-Levy-Trailride-12-May-2013-(near-Christchurch))... get in to it. ($50 entry though)

Also heading to Weedons Ross Road this Saturday ready to ride the singletracks at 9:30am.
Sometimes they park just after the seal turns gravel, sometimes further down on the left as per browny's post above.

Edit: some of the guys are coming in on regoed bikes and now talking of entering later and elsewhere.
