ok racers, here's the thing; We all love racing & a good way to get some more is to have a 2nd bike.

Long ago I'd decided on a 50 as that is what my mates were racing, but it has progressed into pretty much the best racing I've had.

I like the fact that you have to look at corners a bit differently. it may help your riding if you can't just twist the throttle a bit more somewhere to make up the difference.

50s are pretty cheap & don't chew through tyres, in fact can run on two fronts if needs be.

There are still a bunch around. RG50s propping up garages somewhere or an imported TZR or Aprilia RS50, or even Derbi would do the trick. A quick ebay for a AM6 or GPR/Senda engine if you have a spare frame.

Hmm, ok there's not much today, but here's a Derbi. Dave D's one is the equal of my bike in power.

Lets get a few more bikes amongst it. I need a hurry up come next GP. There is talk of a few bikes being made, so lets join them & get these finished & ridden with some passion.

I've been playing with the idea of throwing a supertrick aftermarket 50 cylinder on to one of the spare KE bottom ends. Something like this http://www.rrd-preparation.com/en/Kit-50cc-cylinder-piston-cylinder-head-for-MINARELLI-AM6/1582-product-1582.html would be good for 20 odd horse power.
Its the chassis thats the problem.

I'm keen. Keeping an eye out on a RG50. Love those things!

RS125 left the garage yesterday, for another home!

What are you on about.... RG50 all the way (maybe find a use for that old tz125 frame)..:msn-wink:

Sorry I thought we were talking cheating:laugh:.

I still dont get it. Grafting an after market AM6 cylinder on to a 1970's rotary valve bottom end is far from cheating, in fact I'd say its as bucket as it gets. Again I'll state it, the AM6 was a road going motor sold in the millions therefore ALL after market parts are legal.
ps not interested in the spirit of bucket racing arguement, its for dinosaurs that built their bike decades ago. BRING ON THE REAL 50cc RACERS

I think it's the eligibilty of the aftermarket "race replica" hot up kit you sent a link to that they are referring to Kel.

put the same engine in, ohh say a std AR50 & it would do maybe 92mph. Is that what you're getting at:shifty:

anyhoo:Offtopic:

Lets build some real buckets & actually race them rather than prove what we can find on the internet. Heck if we're not careful Husi will pollute this with more irrelevant trivia. No really, please don't.

Lets keep to the real world & do some bucket racing in NZ.

Dave, the web is how people like me with little mechanical aptitude can find out how to do things correctly without all the costly mistakes. The 125 I am building would not have happened without Tee Zees pages or the input from quite a few others on this forum ( you included )

Back to F5's, the reason they are less popular from where I see it is there is no FXR equivalent to make the class accessible.

Saying all that I do have a w/c honda mtx 50 trail bike ( nsr50 motor I think ) sat in the shed waiting for me to finish the 125.

OK I'll bite. Bidalot makes a full blown race cylinder (Bidalot race factory) which sells for silly money. The supplied link was their budget version "replica" cylinder. Truth is I'd use the silly money full blown version and tell you all to stick it in your pipe and smoke it but hey Im a tight arse and can't afford that lovely piece of work.

And Husi surprises by turning up a real life engine. Now lets see it as a racable bike at BOB & i'll shout your entry.

Cots: well the RG50 was the FXR of the time, just it was a while back.

I are not sure why it surprises you?
i posted it on the ESE site it was offered up as it might be useful to some one doing a LC MB100.
Thanks for the offer of the free entry though. i will take you up on that....one day

The F5's never caught on in the south Island which is a shame.
I am are sure the NSR50 is a poor second best to a RG50.
The Derbi's, Minerellis, Aprilias are not exactly common.
I should have enough bits to slap together a F5.
The beauty of the 50's is they have so many parts available at cheap prices beceaue they are a current race MX class.

Good one Dave - nearly fell off the chair laughing...

50's were big down here - we used to have the "real" 50cc GP but on big tracks.....the old short Puna suited 50's but you'd need to take a lunch on board with you now.
