View Full Version : Exhaust upgrade for a 1999 Bandit 1200?

Hey there KB folk,

I'm about to purchase a 1200 Bandit  and I have been doing a bit of reading regarding modifications. The consensus seems to be that the factory exhaust is extremely restrictive and excellent gains can be had by simply replacing it with an aftermarket slip-on.
I am just wondering what people would suggest I buy to do this, I am wanting to spend as little as possible (poor student) and don't want to have to re-jet.
If I'm being completely honest it's an aesthetic issue as well, that big silver log attached to the side at the moment looks like crap and I'd like something a bit smaller and shinier!

Any advice regarding this would be appreciated, and if anyone can point me in the right direction to buy a cheap exhaust that'd be great!

Thanks.

Keep an eye on Trademe - they come up.

Suzuki and yoshimura go hand in hand, but Yoshi's are not cheap new.

Probably the cheapest NEW slip on for your bike will be a Danmoto brand one. They review well and are cheap - obviously build quality is not up there with the top name brands but look at the price!
Heres a link to the site - Remember purchases including shipping over NZ$400 attract GST under that slip through.

BlueFlame also make nice pipes and are pretty well priced depending on the exchange rate (UK pounds).

Oo just under $200 NZD shipped for a titanium muffler with the link pipe from danmoto is pretty good! The carbon ones are a little cheaper too. Blueflame ones sure look nice but they're a bit pricier!

Bandits run lean, if you pipe it and not re-jet it will lose power.
