I commute 75k each way to work fortunately early afternoon start and 11pm finish and almost every day some asswipe driving a Audi sport wagon or the like seam to take exception to being passed , having to speed up and be a knob .What the fuck is it with these wankers ? Surely if I have caught up with you I am traveling faster than you , why can't they take it like a man and just let me/us go assuming I'm not the only one who has this happen.

Maybe he just wants a race to liven up the morning commute.
An old friend with a quick car used to love racing bikes to work. Other cars were too slow.

Jeremy Clarkson said cocks were getting out of BMWs into Audi's and I tend to agree. Quite a few of our Kapiti "boy tossers" seem to be getting Audi's and driving them like idiots.

i've had exactly the same experience in my car. I drive a version 10 Subaru STI which is ugly as sin, stupidly fast and heaps of fun to drive (I always pull over for bikes though). On the open road I don't drive like a maniac but if I've caught up to you and want to get past then, well....I'm going to get past. Most cars are very curteous and if they were plodding along at 95-100 they continue to do that, I pass them nicely and we go about our respective days. That is except for late model Audi's who mostly decide that they've been challenged to some kind of street race, treat the overtaking lane like a drag strip and generally behave just like you say. Twats!

+1 and out of Porirua. Used the left lane past Mungaivin this morning, some Fugly Audi sports attempt sitting in the right not going anywhere, traffic came down the on ramp slower than I so I indicated, headchecked and moved across in front of the Fugly and the dick flashes. Not a worry as soon as I was past the vehicle from the on ramp (cant say they were merging) changed back to the left and continued past the cars sitting tin the right not overtaking. :bleh:

If they speed up ... you don't need to pass them. So whats your issue about ... ?? Why must you be allowed to be in front all the time ... ???
If you can't pass an Audi ... you need a faster bike. Ditch the ZZR and get a Yamaha ...

@ FJRider , if you don't pass them they just slow down again , so whats the point ?

You tell us you have a ZZR1200. Whats your problem .. ?? Can't pass an Audi .. ??
Just pass them when they cannot do anything to stop you.
Some people just don't like people passing them. And if somebody does ... they take it as a personal insult. Don't endanger your own safety by forcing the issue with this sort ... it soon gets to the stage logic takes no part.
Some people expect to be able to pass a slower vehicle ... even if it's only a few km's slower than the speed they want to travel. and take it as a personal insult if they cant. Again .. forcing the issue soon results in logic taking the back seat too ...
Such are the joys of commuting in the real world. Get over it or somebody might die. And it might be you.

They paid more $ for their vehicle than you did for yours (or at least they have reason to think so). Therefore, logically they should be in front of you, right?
This kind of driver gives me some of the best fun I have on my bike. I like to pretend I am having a stoplight drag race with them. I match their speed until we get up to around 50 and then give it some throttle and watch the look on their face as their expensive machine fades back... Priceless.

Your spot on there Maki and this is exactly what I do although at 1130pm in rural areas it is not something that I particularly enjoy even with spot lights on the ZZR ,things can go wrong far to swiftly at high speed.

The people (I say people, I mean wankers) who used to buy BMW's now buy Audis. no idea why.
I dont know who buys Beemers now. People with more money than sense I guess. You'd be a mug to buy a european car I reckon.

We have a few similar motorists down this way. Not many motorways though. So with the local terrain ... overtaking can be fun in places, cars just don't have a chance to stop you. You're passed and gone before they realize you're coming.
Smile ... but keep your head. Get mad and your beaten.
And then wave and smile as you pass ... that really pisses them off.

I believe the problem you describe is called BCSD, as in Big Car Small Dick. Often accompanied by said person being a member of the Mile High Club, solo aviators division. Does that clear it up for you?
But don't worry, most bike riders will experience this annoying trait at some point, and most Harley riders will have heard about it
Almost as silly as the tintop wankers who try to close the lane gap on the motorway heading into town in the morning crawl :weird: as bikers trundle thru. Must really piss them off when I move my big red truck onto the shoulder to give the riders a bit of room :bleh:

driven a few. not owned one. One of my mates is a fan of the so called luxury brands. Fun fact: Audi A4/A6 is functionally equivalent to a Subaru Impreza/Legacy, except the Subie is substantially cheaper, more reliable and cheaper in the total cost of ownership.
I say it again: you'd be a mug to buy a european car. You have one dont you? a Jap import, cloth seat, steel wheel, 230000km BMW 318i that you think is awesome. After your Trabant, it probably is.

Except I'd avoid a Subaru as well... The Europeans aren't always more expensive part for part, but on the balance of odds, probably the TCO is higher for them.

Seriously, had BMW's a while now, reliable as anything, super cheap parts, easy to spanner on, nice to drive. Don't see the issue meself.

Wrong. A NZ New, cloth seat, alloy wheel, 270,000km BMW 320i E30, that is awesome. And broken, but you get rust in a 1985 anything, even more so if it's Japanese. I've also owned a Subaru Legacy and it cost me $3k in maintenance in the first year. the BMW has cost me $500 in the past 3.
BMW parts on the whole can be had cheaper than toyota parts if you know what you are doing and where to look, and they can be just as reliable if they are serviced regularly. Like any good tool, look after it and it will last.
Also, never had a Trabant. Oh and the BMW cost $1200 to buy, so compared to my Subaru it was cheaper, more reliable, and cheaper in the total cost of ownership. And lasted longer too. It's a 1985, the Subaru was a 1994 and was de-registered about 3 weeks after I sold it.
Edit: Oh, and not a single piece of trim in it rattles. Can't really say that about almost anything Japanese. Or Korean. Or Australian.

Maybe if it's some poxy A6 wagon...try that with an RS6 and the ZZR1200 would get a spanking. :)
I must be a cunt...I love Audi's and when I had a modded V8 S4 had no problems overtaking slow moving vehicles, bikes or cars. Lining up an RS4 now...will be doing more of the same. It's simple road courtesy anyway...if you're a slower vehicle, keep left. I am sick to death of those cunts out there who think that it is their God given right to clog up an overtaking lane (or the right hand lane of a motorway) at 95kph or overtake a 10km long truck up an overtaking lane at 101kph and not allow anyone else behind them to make it passed the slower moving vehicle.

A few years back a mate of mine had an Evo 5 or 6 and thought he was quick in it. Coming home one day from visiting a mate who lived in a very quite, remote rural area we decided to have a bit of a play...he in the Evo and me on a K5 GSXR 600. I could keep him in the corners and eat him in the straights...so much fun. Not very PC to do these days though.

Living out in the sticks I get real shit for overtaking. Usually there are no overtaking lanes, just a bit of a straight long enough to open the taps.
It's as if it's my fault that they want to travel at 70 in a 100 zone, or more often 40 in an 80 zone !. How dare I try to get home for dinner time! :Police:

Fuck the lot of you. If I am on kid duty and forced on to four wheels I have got a choice between an old Audi and a V5 Golf. If you're not happy with a car up your arse then a) you should not have overtaken in the first place and b) you need to speed up a bit. Then there is c) which is to fuck right off. That is what both my four and six year olds will be mouthing at you if you ever bother to check your mirrors.
Is the word cleghammer?

Here here. The other thing...the amount of bikers that will blitz passed on the straights at high speed only to be caught in the first set of corners because they can't corner properly is a joke. The speed limit is 100kph on most open roads...if I can comfortably and safely maintain 100kph through a set of corners I am going to do so. If you feel the need to slow to 60kph, don't be surprised when I open the taps at the next convenient space and overtake you. I apply the same rule when I am on a bike and being held up.
