BMW F800 ST - Anyone know about them?

Hi everyone, on the hunt for advice/feedback. I have my eye on a Beemer F800 st 2007 model with 20 000 k on the clock. Does anyone have any experieince of this bike, things to look out for, failings, positives? Cheers!

I've been looking at these for a while, one thing that I seem to remember coming up on the forums is a failure with the fuel pump, usually within the warranty period.

Bear in mind that if you're going to get authorised BMW mechanics to service it parts etc may work out to be more expensive than other brands, but then again they may be worth it. Also other mechanics may not be prepared to work on BMWs if they don't have the necessary diagnostic tools (has happened for me when I first bought my bike from Haldanes in Auckland - it had the engine cutting out fault, they had to send it to Experience BMW for fixing, but then it's an F650 not an 800.) FWIW it still has that fault to a lesser extent, but I can live with it.

A couple of years ago I had contact with an owner who was having brake problems . Every so often with no warning , rhyme or reason , the brakes would go dead on him . The brakes did not actually fail they just had no stopping power when applied. He stopped using the bike as he lost all confidence in it, he was never sure whether he would have brakes or not which is most disconcerting when coming to a corner at speed . BMW could not find the problem & did not believe there was one, but research on the interweb revealed this sitaution while not common , was certainly not unknown. He was going to have a crack at BMW under the fair trading act, don't know how he got on. The thread that started it is on here somewhere.

Power brake issues are very common on many later model beemers

That's why they quietly changed the design many times and then quietly allowed buyers to tick the delete option when ordering their new superior machine from the fatherland

Hi I ride with 4 freinds who have these bikes and they are a great light bike with awesome fuel economy and smooth gear changing ,parts cheaper than other BMWS thave a test ride on one and I,m sure your be buy one
