Yes, I use them. Cost is reasonable, staff are sensible and helpful. Been with them over a decade and two bikes.

Who exactly are you using again? Sorry - I should have been a bit clearer.

I used Classic Cover.

Never had any issues with them, but then, never had to claim :)

Two bikes thru the VCC Vero scheme, $130 pa, limited to 3000 kms I think,
one 70's bike thru Kiwibike, $230.00 and no restrictions.
Also no claims so really only 1/2 a story.

I had huge issues with them over a claim. A testing business damaged my car and they decided to side with the underwriter and claim that as each piece of damage was a seperate incident, each damaged item had to be treated independantly and therefore each item was under the excess.

Utter, utter, utter bastards.

Swann Insurance are much better.

Good lord - that sounds terrible.... Did you appeal to the Ombudsman or something? (frankly they don't seem to answer web/email based questions or requests for quotes either so they are not exactly hot favorites)

It was a very messy affair all round. Taught me that when a big insurer doesn't want to pay, the extra layer of a broker helps to shield that insurer from their responsibilty. In the end CCs owner wrote me an email telling me to fuck off (without actually using those words of course). I threw the towel in and decided to tell as many people as I could my story.

They would have clawed their money back in premiums by now but I reckon I've managed to turn a good lot of people away from them. So, in the end I got another insurer and CC got an angry, very vocal, ex-customer.

It's the only way the little guy can fight back.

Swann are the guys you want for a pre 1990? classic bike they charge me $220 for the first bike valued at $6500 and $100 for every bike after that, and you'll get free roadside assist. l had to put a claim in Feb last year and they payed me $1000 more than l had it insured for, l had it insured for $5500 and the market value came back as worth $6500 so they payed me that amount, and l got to buy my bike back from them and they didnt deregister it like other insurance companys do.
Awesome guys to comunicate when the bike hits the ground.

I have my classic insured as an extra bike with John Brooks Ulysses policy. I think it only costs $130.
.

When I was knocked off recently I had no problems with the insurance, none at all. Probably helped that the other driver was charged with careless and was driving a company car.

Swann seem like genuine enthusiasts as opposed to CC who seems more interested in financing their owner's racing habits.

Just had a quote from Classic bike insurance for my 1982 t-140 Bonnie 750 $13000 cover only $116.00 Also an an excess of $100.00 one any one claim.
Way cheaper than the rest of the so called classic bike insurance companies.

I have been with Protecta for the last 12 months, had not one claim. Also only insured for total loss of $10,000, renewal notice sent to me was $345 with an excess of $250

Other quotes I have had from classic bike insurers averaged around the $390. with an excess of around the $250.

Needless to say who I am going to insure my classic with.

Swann are great I called them today as I realized that my insurance had run out and the nice lady let me renew it but said they would have still covered me as I had been with them for a while and they wouldn't screw me over the sake of a couple of weeks (they'd even tried to call me and let me know)

i also asked about upping the insured value on the Guzzi (because I reckon it's gone up a bit in the last 5 years) and she said no worries send us a photo and tell us why and it shouldn't be a problem , no valuers or assessors needed.

I rate them they have in house classic bike enthusiasts working with them.

Welcome to my world.
I do prestige & classic car/bike insurance for some of my top end punters.
The last thing you want is some guy who pays you 400k a year for business insurance getting pissed off because the claim on his old Mustang was cocked up...
