It was one of the most fucking awesome bikes I have ever owned. That was 1989 though.

Ye old GPZ a good motor only 2 valve head bullet proof, should be a uni track model if a 84 makes a good post classic racer. The 900/750 was a completely different design with water cooling, 4 valve head and cam chain on the end of the crank.

I'm pretty sure when that bike came out it was responsible for adding at least half a inch to the length of my dick. A few Kawasaki's were responsible for this when I was younger!!!!!

If it is clean and tidy and does not look like some arse has been working on it ie munted engine cover screws etc then it is a fair price. If the oil was changed at regular intervals the kms are nothing for that engine.

Can't remember tyre sizes so check as they may be a bit odd-ball nowadays and hard to find decent rubber. Check the age of the existing tyres on the bike - if they are 5 yrs old or more they will need to be replaced (the rubber goes off - true had it happen to me years back) Rear shock will be fucked if stock, front fork oil probably never changed, check the air filter as the sealing sponge on factory ones falls apart over time (stock replacements will be a silly price - check Ebay).

Peep at the sight glass for the brake fluids and check the pads - fluid will most likely need replacing and check the age of the brake lines - if stock they will have a 'made' date stamped on them. If original factor in a set of replacements (net again - try Hell or one of the name brands).

I've probably just pushed the price of your bike up $500 or more but if you score it cheap enough and replace, service it for under $2k IMO it will be much more satifying than a limp-dick-GN. Fuck me I'd rather buy a scooter and a couple cans of satin black paint than ride a GN .........

yep it road legal, and i took it fir a ride, goes ok to,i know its 30 year old bloody heavy too.its tidy for its age. the bike wrecker here races em so no shortage of parts.its been well maintained.i could get it for 1300.damn i need more garage space.am wondering if this bike will start to appreciate in value. fluiuds are good in the brakes calipers been reconed as they were seized from the bike being unused for two years, new fluid.new tyre as per the trademe ad above.yea a gn is pretty gay.i own a guzzi to just riding that to wirk everyday is a sin as it only just warms up.and work gets dusty.

Either save up for or buy a decent bike. I rode a GPZ750 and it was a piece of crap old tech that doesn't handle. It'll keep breaking down and will drive you nuts finding parts.

Don't listen to any of these "ahhhh those were the days" posts on this forum from people with nicknames like 'spanners', 'spud', 'mad dog' or 'Nob' who like to pull things to bits all weekend rather than ride the bloody thing.

It's probably the only way they can escape the ball and chain by locking themselves in the shed all weekend fiddling with their shitty bikes.
