Absolutely MT,Jamie's no bullshit,Tell it like it is approach to racing will serve Roman well,We are behind him 100% and pushed very hard to get everything in place for him to be able to race on the 250 last weekend and have every confidence he will be a success.

125GP is going to be a great class to watch this winter.
Roman is impressive. He was pretty amazing on his Chinese 250 at Taupo too....
That new 250 looks promising.

he's required to wear a dayglo vest to compete in this class at the beginning, had to laugh when they had to tie a big clump of the surplus in a knot at the back cause he's so tiny you could fit nearly two of him in the one vest. that alone is helping with the power to weight ratio.
he's also always got a filthy big smile on his face and part of a great team so watch this space.....

Roman's a great kid, and has a good crew behind him.
It takes a incredible amount of effort/passion/drive and the right people behind you to succeed in this sport.
I think its a little early, to say if he's going to be something special. Its up to him.
Sometimes the worse thing you do is say they are going to be something special. As they then expect things to be easy.
Just a general rant, and certainly not aimed at Roman.
I've just seen it too many times, often people overlook others, who have no support.

Great to hear that Roman's getting good support, hope to be watching at Round 2, awesome kid! :)

Dead right Kyle,But I think the big difference here is that Jamie's not gonna blow smoke up his arse and tell him he's fast when he's 2 or more seconds of the pace like happens all too often to others,Pretty sure Jamie will keep him well grounded and work on improvement when others do not.

i remember when Avalon Biddle rode for wolfpack the season before last, i was in the pits when they were going out for the last race of the season and Jamie Rajek patted her on the back and said 'go out and have as much fun as you can' had a larf at that

I like jamie, he's the man, alot more relaxed than most. It will be great to watch him grow and grow.

Smoke or encouragement?

People are different, some need to be boosted and tell them they are the man. Generally speaking the more successful one's just get down to work and get it done.

WORLD of difference between smoke and encouragment. The old saying of learning to walk before running springs to mind. We aim to take some of those who have begun running..... and teach them to walk a little better at MCC this year. So many have never learned the fundementals.

Yip,You got it,Encouragement when its deserved and the competitor is/has shown a vast improvement is earned,

Smoke blowing is as I stated earlier,Telling someone theyre fast, when theyre a couple of secs off the pace for the said class.

Be very interesting to see who learned anything from Luke when the season kicks off next year,I know of 2 that most definitely have,How many of the rest will turn up and just try to match him without making significant change???

I understand what you are saying. Not sure what Billy means exactly. Some riders will be better than others, some will learn from experience or coaching, others may hit the brick wall of talent or confidence. The suggestion that any rider who is off the pace should go home and stay home is bollocks. The sport needs riders of all calibres or it dies. This winter series entries are looking pretty sick. 3 guy's racing for 7th place are as important to the sport as the winner.

Where did I suggest anybody should give up or go home cause theyre off the pace?????Absolutelty they should stay out there and learn whatever they can,Somedays you just get to suck it up no matter how bad it gets,Thats how life is !!!!

The comment I made was in regard to those specifically learning to get to that top step and I stand by my statement,You won't get them there by lying to them,Encouragement when they show improvement is what is required,Not bullshit!!

Nooooow who's talkin shit?

In New Zealand, (and it pains me to say this), motorcycle racing is a hobby. Our bikes are toys, and we are merely playing.

We haven't exported a world champion road racer since before I was born. Lets qualify that further. Mr Bugden has won our national points series three (I think, might be two) times...He has never won a single superbike race in Australia.

I know I'm being a dick, and that kid pictured could wipe the floor with me on a race track, but lets not suggest the lad is going anywhere at all, untill he can lap every one of our tracks under the lap0 record. Because truth is, he is going no where in the sport if ha can't do that with ease.

Jamie, I reckon you and yours are fuckin tops. All you do for so many people is amazing, I just get grumpy sometimes for no reason and this thread has pushed buttons.

Firstly it was you who added the second name, I merely used an initial, secondly it's Stammova with two M M 's, thirdly my name is spelt Graeme and fourthly I've never crashed a Chair, don't recall the phrase 'Dog Slow' ever coming up when I won Three New Zealand Sidecar Championships

OK so what I see is something like 24 sidecars racing at Taupo in difficult conditions all teams having more experience than you, Most have selected tyres suitable for the conditions, you can't be arsed changing to a wet rear despite the forecast giving no doubt as to what's coming up.
So you get out the front and instead of it going through your mind that it's your first meeting, likely you first time in the wet on a sidecar, and on slicks and that everybody else has assessed, or are still assessing the conditions and are behind you and maybe you should back off a little you decide that you're that good at this whole game it's now time to show off to the crowd, and flip the unit.
The only the Sandra S didn't have was a passenger to be responsible for.

In saying that get back out there and prove me wrong, and have fun doing it

Had to choose my words carefully there.....

As for Roman, I'm picking that not many, if any of you have actually raced against him (except may be Billy has?).
I can tell you he is a very good racer, and I am very comfortable getting close to him (or him getting close), as he has awesome basic skills.

His lack of size and weight helps a lot. The basics are there and can be built on as he is willing to listen.

Nope Ive never raced against him,But I did nearly take him out at Levels earlier in the year when I brake checked him at turn 5 on a test day,Whoops my bad,Not a good look when I'm his mentor,Yea he's definitely got talent,But how far that goes remains to be seen,All I'm saying is he's in the right camp to progress without being bullshitted and hes hungry to go further.

Then if anyone mentions someone else, it is not taking any thing away from the origional subject.
Exactly how many national titles do they need to be considered something special............

It was not my intention to set up a thread for Roman to be fair game for couch potatoes. I have been watching racers for over 40 years and I was so impressed with his first meeting on a moto3 type machine that I wanted to be the first to acknowledge that he has huge potential. He is also a really nice young man to deal with, great manners, personable, determined and willing to learn. A sponsors dream IMHO. I was equally impressed by Jacob Stroud, Aaron Hassen and Rogan Chandler after carefully watching them at the Taupo round of the Nationals. Luckily for them, all these boys have great backing and if the spirit is willing they may well progress to success in the future. It's hard to watch these kids and remember how bloody young they are. It's a real pleasure to see them progress and huge kudos to those that are mentoring them.

Yes true Swerve, but I haven't actually raced against them apart from Bailie ;)

Roman Rajek wins his first National GP125 race at Levels fighting Rogan Chandler and Tyler Lincoln. North Island juniors kicking ass! I won't say I told you so,,, but the kid is Faaast!

Yes Well done to him. Defended off Rogan who was coming at him under Lap Record Pace!
Well deserved. Looking forward to Race 3.

The piece of paper that Lynda Blair put on Facebook said that Matt Hoogie got it in 2014 with a 1:09.411.
Seth thought Matt did a 1:08 at some point, but that could have been qualifying I suggest.... Or a wish?
Anyway Rogan officially has it now.

I'm sure the 125's have gone faster than that in the past but all I could find was this http://www.mylaps.com/en/classification/1777473 a 1.08.9 by Avalon a few years ago. Pretty decent times they were doing though.

Edit: Just found this from 2010 http://www.mylaps.com/en/classification/1397004 Al Hoogy did a 1:08.3. Pretty sure that is fastest 125 lap.

Thanks for that Kirk..... Sort of makes sense actually...
No disrespect to Rogan or Roman, Tyler and Sam, but they were quite a way from the record at Ruapuna yet seemed very close to it at Levels.
Might well be atmospheric conditions of the day. Levels seemed a cracker to break records....

Ah well, the North Island boys just have to do better at their "home" tracks....
Roman should go pretty well in the final round at Taupo.
Rogan and Tyler will be right there too.

Ruapuna goes greasy in extreme heat....But Levels usually doesn't warm up till well after Xmas due to the high water table underneath. The extreme weather they had, I'm told, resulted in excellent grip. Something that usually isn't seen this early in the year.

I'm delighted to advise the negative trolls on this website,, that Roman Rajek won 3 National Races last weekend and now holds a NZTT Trophy.

And a lot of dedication on his own behalf....

It is fantastic to be around watching Roman grow.
