Fellow Kiwibikers. After being completely ripped off by a dealer for a part recently I have decided to import parts.
I know we all need to support our local shops and I would initially say buy from them, I still do. There is no point waiting 7-10 days for delivery to save only a few bucks, but if you come across something that you need that is either way too expensive or unobtainable use our website - we guarantee to save you cash.

So why would someone get you to bring in a part (and pay you a margin on it) when they could bring it in themselves?

Very true Katman. But after many years of working in the UK industry we guarantee there is still money to be saved. Plus alot of our customers like the convenience of sending a quick email request then knowing they are getting the very best price without having to spend hours at their computer. Its a very easy way to import parts.
Alot of people however like shopping online and doing their own research which is great, but there are still alot of people out there who don't know where to start looking. Our margins here at www.carpartimporters.co.nz are very small and very little of the savings away from our customers. We run this business to save bikers and motorists money - not to make a fortune from them :-)

Didn't see this listed on the New Zealand Companies Register?
Not a registered company? or under another name apart from "Car Part Importers"?

Does it have to be? Could be a Sole trader.

GS1000LN the N denotes the year (1979), wanting both coils original part numbers
33410-45010
33420-45010
thay have been superseeded at least once to 45011 so wouldn't be surprised if you rparts search comes up with another later number, one of each required please
thanks
i'm in no hurry so it could be combined with something else when you're getting an order

You still need to register sole trader or not.
Especially if you are importing as you need to declare it with customs before it comes into the country.

The good news is you don't need to be gst registered for your first year of trading if you plan on making less than 60k,
Will flick you an email via your site soon.

They could just go to this site....
www.mrcycles.com
I've done a lot of searching for good overseas prices and for price and service these guys can't be beat.
As I said, why would someone pay you a margin when they could easily find the same deal themselves?

I've bought a fair few things (read - a shitload) from overseas now and haven't had a single thing go missing.
Seems like a fairly safe bet to me.

Does 'discounted bulk shipping' mean waiting longer while you build up an order worth shipping?

Can you get tyres? No one in NZ seems to stock BT-092 in 150/60/18 yet they can easily be found in the UK. Only reason I didn't get them was the 100 GBP shipping...

That's a fairly wild claim.
Even using the site I linked earlier, you're subject to the availibility of the part.

The price he quoted me for the air cleaner is just about the same as I can import one for. So I think its worth it if you cant be bothered with mucking about getting it. And about half NZ retail.
Yes also interested if you can get tyres. I had been looking at importing some myself.

I think its not a bad idea of a service, and you dont need to deal with customs etc.

so if you're a company selling us goods, what guarantees and after sales service do you offer in the event of part failure, incorrect items received, faulty goods etc etc. Will you be able to hold up your obligations under the consumer guarantees act?

Thanks for all your discussion on this thread. Sorry about the delay in responding on this thread, but we have been completely overwhelmed with the amount of orders that have come through and been processed in the last few days, so much so that we have had to put a hold on advertising.
In response to a few questions. Yes you are fully covered under the consumer guarantees act as with anything ordered online. We will do everything we can to make sure our customers are always 100% happy with our service.
Tyres - yes but not yet. With the anticiapted growth we have we need to look at higher bulk shipping orders.
Keep an eye on our website. It is still under development. We will upload fully shipping and returns policies and a FAQ section.

In 3 days you have been 'completely overwhelmed'?
I smell a rat here.
Have I won Euro10,000,000 in a Nigerian lottery too?
