View Full Version : Bar end mirrors for scooters?

Has anyone had a go fitting bar end mirrors to their scooter? I'm finding the little round mirrors that came with my PGO Ligero difficult. Are their any pitfalls (other than possibly increasing the width of the bike for lane splitting).

Biggest problem I found with bar end mirrors on the GB500 was knocking the things when walking around the bike. Never had them on a scooter.

The mirrors on the Yamaha 100 are brilliant. There is virtually no vibration at all. The 2 stroke motor is probably smoother at high revs than a 4 stroke would be.

Thanks for the information, teacher. Quite right, "their" should read "there" and btw "English" has a capital.

They will be different in diameter/design to most motorcycles ... it's unlikely you'll find any that fit.

Don't worry about it anyway ... real scooter riders don't use their mirrors ..

Oh come on- you can't have too many mirrors on a scooter...!

I've done my research and 7/8" is standard; purchased mirrors on Trademe with the view to fit this weekend.

Bar end mirrors are fine untill you walk past the bike and collect the mirror with your arm. I have seen a scooter with the mirror mounted off the top of the front leg shield. He said this got around the vibration that his scooter got through the front forks/ handlebars. The leg shield being part of the main chassis.

Imagine having to wipe condensation off the mirrors on a foggy morning. No lane splitting with this baby:nono:

Well I've reamed out the grip on the left bar and all looks good to fit. Plucking up courage now to work on the other side...:wait:

It went pretty well after a little work to make sure the throttle didn't stick
