Back to Tokaanu this year as it's more social for getting together at night. Register here 2013 Gathering - Tokaanu (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=3081&day=2013-6-1) if you're coming.

WHAT IS THE KB GATHERING?
An excuse for social minded motorcycle riders to ride during the day and eat, drink and be merry during the night. The event is actually in Tokaanu, 4km up SH41 from Turangi.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Friday
Some of will be arriving on Friday evening. This is optional as the main part of the 'Gathering' is from the Saturday to Monday.

Saturday
Those of us who arrived on Friday will be going for a ride/tiki tour during the day and arriving back at the Oasis Cafe/Restaurant in good time to greet the rest of you as you arrive. Settle in for the night, eat, drink, tell lies and discuss routes for Sunday. The hot pools are open 24hours at the Oasis.

Sunday
Go for a group ride or multiple group rides depending on numbers. Some of us will be heading away to get back to the South Island. Dinner and drinks back at the Oasis for those who are staying the night.

Monday
Say our goodbyes and head back home.


WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
Saturday, June 1st, Sunday, June 2nd and Monday, June 3rd. Some of us will be arriving on Friday night.

They have motel units, cabin rooms and campsites. There is a Laundry and large drying room available, camp kitchen and dining room, TV and lounge. Restaurant / Dairy next door. Hot mineral pools are free for guests staying and are open 24hrs. They also have hot freshwater spa pools (free for staying guests) and are open from 2pm til late.

Sorry I haven't replied earlier, been flat out this week. Bookings are individual responsibility as you say. Part of the fun of the event has always been seeing who actually turns up. There are a couple of other places in Tokaanu as well if you want options. Check out the Tokaanu Motor Lodge and Rainbow Motel.

Got the whole weekend of this year. Coming down on Friday with Brian. Enjoyed the Saturday ride out to see Bob last year.

Just a few days away. Forecast has gone from sunny to rain to cloud to rain. Guess I'll see when I get there. Thinking of coming up from New Plymouth via Whangamomona on Saturday. Anyone else coming up going that way?

A good road to do. A few of us went down that road to Tahora last year for a day ride from Taupo.

Going down to Tokaanui tomorrow. Will be riding around some roads in the King Country with a mate.:wings: We will check out some roads that we used to ride on 50 years ago.:eek: Only seems like yesterday.:niceone:

We're going tobmeet at the Turangi Shell and be ready to leave at 10. Our plans have been screwed up by local infighting which ended up with the restaurant closing at nights. It's supposedly open for breakfast, so we going to check that out and go to the Truck Stop Cafe in Turangi if it doesn't work out.

Arrived late after a wet ride from whangamomona to about 10 km from Turangi to find everyone was in town. Still the hot pools were nice and had a good chinwag with the owner about British culture, racial stereotypes and blackmailing swinging women and their daughters. Met up with nadroj, 1speed, 1billyboy later for another chat at the pool. Looking forward to todays ride.
