Hey, I can't get the Torpedo 7 site to load so not sure what jacket looks like. However I recently bought a leather jacket
from www.1tonne.co.nz who are based in Taranaki for about $220. Very happy with it too. Have a look...

Yeah I'm not actually in the market for a jacket, although wouldn't mind a pair of alpine star trou.

just posted this as some else might be and is a pretty good deal IMHO.

I talked about this jacket in this thread:

Decided against getting it as it was coming up to the windy/rainy season, leather is no good in the rain!

On top of this the sizing chart seemed completely wrong - even someone in the review section said it was quite confusing.

I have a pair of Alpinestars race pants hanging unused in my wardrobe if you want.

I have a 1tonne leather jacket & got caught in persistent rain on the way to work, 1/2 hour at 100km only wet bit was small spot on chest, think water went down my neck, no water came through the jacket

+1 on that. I've got a 1tonne blackhawk and got caught in some really bad rain. Was about a 3 hour trip in the wet. The collar is a bit weird so a little rain got in the inside which was a pain but the outside held up pretty well for the first hour or so. Very happy with the jacket.

It's just not the same without someone talking about triple stitching, hand reared cows and zips so smooth you could make love to them.

1. get leather gear (best protection)
2. get waterproof oversuit (best rain protection)
3. ????
4. profit!

seriously though, all that textile gear seems to just have a waterproof layer in it somewhere, so the outside still gets soaked, and water still runs into every crack and crevice. been there, done that. one piece rainsuit over leathers is 10x better IMHO.

^ whats quasi up to?

i have a jacket and pants from him, can recommend the gear (and the service) at least

Yeah but these jackets have neoprene anti bacterial kennyspan velcro tabs and zippers for added comfort

Huh I missed that. That would explain why there wasn't a new line of gear last year.

Any idea who to, or what the story is nowdays?

Re OP - that jacket looks like a bargain. I've had my eye on them for a while but unfortunately I suspect I'd be a size small, and I was after the red one, but too late it seems...

+1 on oversuits, nothing gets in with those suckers on just a bit of a mission to put on & you need to put it on before starting out.

Any brand you suggest?

Always keen to pick up tips. I have some gortex gear, water proof and warm but I do prefer leathers, seen people do pretty well in them riding the body1000SP down the road a few times.

Thanks for that, I've been using textile, but ready to invest in leather. Ride in all weather and been wondering about leather in the wet. Had DREADFUL ride home when caught storm in Waipara to Chch, had textile gear with woolen scarf tight around neck, rain poured down front of jacket and pooled in my pants :( and boots :weep: ????? got a bit cool that day.

Hey any women riders there found any leather long pants long enough? same with jackets...

I ride every day, I arrive at work dry under my rain gear, I arrive home dry under my rain gear. I wear leather .
My rain gear is Tecniflex agriculture quality water proof gear. I bought 2 sizes bigger than my fit. I stay dry in all conditions.

http://www.betacraft.co.nz/products/rainwear/techniflex

This is my second winter using this gear, nad it has done a full summer of wet weekend rides, some as long as 700k.. I reccomend it.

It drys off very fast, hang in a warm space it will be dry in minutes.
Double action zipper on the jacket, with a domed zip cover with valcro cuffs, neck mean no leaks .
Pants have domed cuffs, and domed pockets with string waist gather.

Regarding rain wear, I have a pair of these (http://line7.co.nz/terrain/product/territory-over-trouser-formerly-terrain-breathable/) Line7 pants I got when I was seventeen and they still haven't let water through, not bad considering I'm in my mid Thirties now. It just shows when you buy decent stuff it will work and last
