Need some custom metal formed (copy Torpedo7 Super Track)

Any ideas where (pref in Auckland, ideally East Auckland) this could be done?

I can provide a section of short track to copy, just need someone that can then run out a much longer length (probably a little over a metre).

I've spoken to Torpedo7, but they're not planning to have more stock (and won't provide supplier details). Tis a brilliant idea and far more reasonable than alternatives from ute accessory places.

What exactly is this? Is it a tie down system for a trailer or for a ute tray or a vehicles roof. Getting custom stuff made 1 off aint cheap. I'm working on a race car at the moment for my brother and doing all his welding and fab for free, the stuff hes had to go get machined as a once off blew the bank more than a few times...

Yep, tie down system (I already have the hooks for the track). It's likely a profile, of x length then drilled etc. As per pics in links, it's a length of aluminium with larger holes spaced apart and then mounting holes. The hooks slide into the rail and secure.

Yeah, aware it's not going to be as cheap as buying it online for a length... but that option isn't available any more. I tracked a few options to the states, and for a metre it's more like $100. The shipping alone would kill the price though...

Could you use some marine fittings from a yacht chandlery?
Gooseneck fitting track or traveller car?


Burnsco marine or Smart Marine.
Don't use Sailor's Corner unless you are quite wealthy...

If your after just a simple trailer mounting system it would be easy to fab one up out of mild steel angle for less than 100 bucks for the entire trailer. Might be a cheaper option, I would do it for a 24 box of red and materials cost.

Yep, understand and thanks for the offer, but I have the hooks for the track set. Also, it's quite a clean solution, as you can take the hooks out when they're not in use. Oh, and it's also for a ute, which has more limited mounting options.

Any small engineering shop should be able to hook you up bro. Even better if you can provide the old one for them to copy, pretty much as good as any drawing.
Definitely get a few quotes though and it shouldn't sting you as bad as you might think

I think I set new records a few years ago with a custom made bolt for $75 (motorcycle, not flash stuff or anything)... so I'm no stranger to needing THAT part.

Trick now is to find that small engineering shop. Most discovered phones recently, so there is no web presence to chase :laugh:

that stuff is the seat tracks and freight tie downs for passenger seats in aircraft. at those prices it wont be genuine aviation stock but you might be able to get some 2nd hand stuff from the airport

hmmm, that seems to be a brilliant suggestion. I hadn't realised it was also used for that. Best to contact an airport or the airline? Seems to be the most tricky part, finding the right person...

I've got hold of four lengths of 800mm each. They can be joined, you just need to be accurate with the spacing.
They're old and used, but you should be able to knock up the required length with a bit of thought.
