I kid you not, that is it's name, in the US at least.

I wonder if Honda/Bluewing will bring them here, I think they look like fun.

Is this the new 'monkey bike' that the reports referred to?
Stupid name, but cool commuter.

With a massive 125 power plant and two-up capability...should sell well. The bikes profile looks like a clubbed foot though :(

Reminds me a little of the sachs madass 125, but with honda quality and probably a little more power. Should be an absolute hoot to ride.

yeah i'd ride one. had a lot of fun on my street magic many moons ago.

wonder if it can handle motorway speeds

as for the D tracker - i see its on the kawa website for 3500. red baron have a second hand one for 5k... lol.

they sent me a text the other day about a huge stock clearance sale. popped in to find a handful of 12k bikes had $500 off. doesnt really seem like much of a sale to me

Yeah but that Kawa is just dorky looking ......

The Honda looks like a modern version of the Monkey Bike - I like it. Be Blue Wing will overprice them. (US$3k)

Nice price, but that looks like a full size bike, whereas the Honda is as others have said a new monkey bike.

Any word on if/when these get here? And what price they're likely to be?

Call Bluewing Honda tomorrow.

I suspect they will say something like 'if it looks like it would sell well we will not bring it in unless we can make 200% profit on it....'

I'm not rich enough to be that serious. I'd rather make an Ape (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DQPdN292DiA/UP06gc72HKI/AAAAAAAAmSU/uwWDFDADcdA/s1600/Honda+Ape+by+MOTOMOTO+01.jpg) anyway.

I love the look of these as a 'round town' bike. TBH I think the honda FTR would be better though: http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_ftr_230_2011.php

They never imported those here neither... if anyone has one for sale, PM me!

Here is a ride report from a guy who rode from Portland to Alaska on a Grom. Not a big write up but shows what can be done on a small bike.

I Test rode (and my that i mean rode one no qualifications or vast experience to compare to) the other weekend at the Honda road show at Botany Honda.

Was a fun little bike. 4 speed manual gets up to 70km/h pretty quick then kind of dies off (Supposedly can do 90km/h)

Is quiet a small bike and you dont realize untill you sit on it.

Suspension is very soft, and the bike being just over 100kg is easy to move.

Riding it was strange. When you are going you dont see any of the gauge or handle bars relay. Just a big open void in front of you. It feels if you are leaning a long way when you are cornering (even tho i wasnt)

Would defiantly say it would be a fun toy or a preferred option over a scooter if you were comuting around town.

Below is a Pic of my brother just after test riding it (6ft tall for reference)

Hi all,

I bought one of these puppies on the weekend, and had my first ride yesterday and to work today and must say the bike handles really well and feels very grounded.
I'm really enjoying it. I'm only 172cm tall and weigh just over 60kg, so I can probably push it a tad harder than most :)

Anyways, I recommend it.

Now, onto modding it.

tias
4th November 2014, 12:32
Yeah heaps of videos and mods out there. Just ordered the tail tidy, new back light and front indicators.
Next in line will be the exhaust but then I'll wait with mods till it has had it's first service.
Good fun.

Old Thread.

But.

Have also now brought one (so has my brother) 400ish KM on it now from new.

It manages 100-105 on the flat about 95 up a hill (183cm and 85-88kg)

I have used it to commute to work including motorway but more so just have it as a second bike as a toy. Heap of fun and hard to ride and not smile.

Figured I too would bring up an old thread. A friend and I both bought a brand new one each in Hamilton, August last year. Have put a 14t front sprocket on, Renthal bars and Contitwist tyres, use it for the fun of wheelies and getting to work.
Have put over 2000km on it now. Still runs amazing.

Haha, classic. I bought the Red one from HH. I think you guys were in there just after me, Grant told me about yaz coming to get one each.

Great to hear you're enjoying them. I've ridden mine pretty much non-stop since then, don't own a car so it's been my daily commute with my "bigger" bike relegated to weekends only. The Grom hasn't missed a beat. No mods yet (apart from getting rid of the OEM tires), prolly not going to do much to it to be honest.

Love it!!

The Kawasaki looks quite nice! I'm a fan of smaller bikes and while I don't particularly enjoy the styling of the Grom, it's interesting to see what else comes along in this segment.

Have you guys seen Mordeth13/M13's video of his opinion of the Grom? *hides*

Sorry but nope. Mine came from AussieGrom... :) Some dealers in Sydney will ship but tricky to find one since Honda dealers are not allowed to sell to someone if they know it is being exported new. Can usually get around it by supplying a AU address on the invoice.

Good luck

Took a week to get them registered due to some confusion with new model VIN numbers and NZTA. Worth it in the end... they are just heaps of fun!

Heck I used to bomb around on an RG50 for years, was a huge laugh when there was a few of you or just around town. Can't think I'd do those sorts of trips anymore. But at least it was a 2 stroke so it felt and sounded exciting.
