View Full Version : Nat loopback - Draytek?

Kinda out my comfort zone so here goes:-

Anyone know a reliable ADSL modem, that supports NAT loopback? For some stupid reason Netcomm have dropped this feature from their range. TP-link does it but they fall over after a few weeks...probably filling up IP tables or something. Have a couple of new old stock WRT54GL but dunno how reliable they are.

Anyone using Draytek modems? All it has to do is support some port forwarding to 3 servers and NAT loopback to one internal webserver.

Otherwise should I be looking at this?

(Before anyone suggests it, changing internal DNS server will involve far too much work due to current @#$cked up setup)

According to this, NAT Loopback is supported: http://support.draytek.net.au/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/299/4/what-is-nat-loopback--is-it-supported-in-vigor-routers

Got several in service (VDSL and ADSL), they've become our default for good reliable modems. If you tell me which model you're interested in, I might have one I can double check for you.

Used a lot of TP-Link TD-W8960's (use on in my office) but my default for "solid" has been the relatively cheap Netcom NB604N (early days but not 1 in past 10 months since I started using them has so much as needed a restart) but they've not got the NAT loopback.

Anyways....Looking at Vigor 2710ne butDV120 might do the job as I can just replace the 5 port switch next to the modem with a wireless one. However, if a "one box" vigor can do the job then I'll be a happy bunny.

VDSL....I bloody wish. Local cabinet aint even got ADSL2.

Bought that Cisco box on trademe as a plan B. Seemed stupidly cheap to miss and I'll use it somewhere else if the Draytek doesn't work out.

Yep, used Netcomm and Dynalink before that, the NB604N, just the odd one, a lot of NB6 (and iterations) but the NB14 was crap.

Pretty sure we've got both of the Vigors, so I'll have a look tomorrow.

As luck would have it, a spare 2710ne was sitting in the cupboard, so yes, it supports NAT Loopback (and so does the 120 according to this: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/NAT_Loopback_Routers). Not too hard to test that either if you want, as we use a 120 for testing internally. As you probably know, the 2710ne has 4 LAN ports, wireless and WPS.

When you start getting nice internet, you can look at the VN or VDN Drayteks :msn-wink:

Check your PMs.
