You've obviously never owned one then

You'd learn just how fast love can turn to hate

They never wear out if you leave them in the shed and use disposable BMW's :bleh:

Haha! I had a Dramah!
But I think this model is not a roundcase.

It isn't, I think the squarecase 750 is quite rare, I got offered one back in 1994 for $20,000NZ

Doh. My bad. No i have never owned one. Good mate had one in the 80s- a Darmah, which he spent a lot of money on cos "its the last bike i will ever own"

Yeah he sold it a couple years after that for peanuts when he went overseas

Going overseas in the 80's was a good move.... the 20% interest rates passed my by
I bought my Darmah for $2700 AU in 1987, think I was on about $14AU PH then, the $10NZ PH I left would not buy me the 6K one in the window on Ponsonby Road.

I paid $8000 for my 81 SD in 1990,,,I guess the values changed somewhere along the way.

Sold it for the same price 12 months later an the poor bugger thought it was a great deal.

How come they look 'just right'?

I wonder if young chaps today will look back in 30-40 years and desire a 2013 XXXXX (insert your fav current sport bike).

A year or more back I had a just 20ish chap (600cc sport bike rioder) tell me my 'naked' 900 looked odd without body panels ........ fark me it took me a while to accept radiators on motorcycles!!!!! (except the Suzi 750 Waterbus, or Kawa Z1300 - they were just cool!!!!).

My Darmah was a really nice bike to ride. But that said it had a lot of less than average features. Like a poor lock, bad finish, dodgy electrics.
But the sound of the big L twin stays with you forever

You can change the finish.

But boring is forever.

So true, still got the Darmah but the rubber band SS is gone.

I payed NZ$8000 for my 1981 900 SD in 1983,you could buy a three bedroom house for $43000+
Still have it of course (Full Vee Two Australia engine in the mid 1990's)

Only time I ever had any trouble was the few rare times I let other people work on the engine when I didn't have time to do it myself !
Very reliable otherwise.
Also have a first year (1977) 900 SD $2500 and 1973 750 GT $3500.

Prices have gone through the roof for any Beveldrive Ducati here in Australia.

Don't know about you, but I always found the bevel's flat seat just so much more comfortable than that slightly tilted one on the rubber ducks. Something to do with crushed nuts...

I did 800 kms 2 up once on the Darmah in the 80's , these days I find the seat a bit hard...that's office work and age for ya.
The 900SSie was a far superior bike the to bevel drive in nearly every way, the engine is nigh on bullet proof, could wind it out to rev limiter, slick 6 speed box, easy to change belts, easy to check tappets, ...other than having to drop the rear shock off....awesome sound...but I never took to it or the styling or that noisy dry clutch.
