View Full Version : Auckland: Ride & Party, Saturday 25 May
Auckland to Nikau Caves then back to our place for a drink or two and B-B-Q.
Ride is open to anyone.
RIDE POSTPONED/PARTY STILL ON
Meet @ Karaka BP/Autobahn for a 10:30am leave time.
Basically get down there, have a feed, and for those who want to/can, head back to Warkworth to finish off what should be a great day. We have heaps of sleeping area for anyone wanting to stay.
All egos to be left at home so your pet/s will have something to play with. SPCA will love you for it.

Very non technical stuff, just an excuse to get out there for a ride, and I want to talk shit in real life instead of on here  We are heading north the following weekend on the bikes so sort out a few things for our November Cape ride.

I'll be a starter for this, bike or no. (dropping her off tomorrow to get some exhaust work done)
If it's getting to thurs/fri and still not done anybody willing to give me a pillion?
I may even put a slow cooker on and have hot meat and gravy rolls for those of us that don't like sausages
Looking forward to getting out and about.
See you all there.

Easy peasy for you to be honest, fairly straight forward ride, a bit of the goat track for while but you'll love it. Once inland from Mercer, it's quite stunning.

Just keep an eye on the weather, does not look that great for Saturday on the news tonight, but it's three days away so maybe that H will nudge the crap out to the east quicker than forecasted.

The news is generally shit for weather forecasts. They are more concerned about telling you about the weather you already experienced.
Check out this website, one of the better ones for rain forecasting.

Mmmm I have really put mine to the test in recent weeks, and have found out that it is actually remarkably waterproof. I just think I don't need to have to keep finding this out every day...!
Though it does make the cuppa at the ende of the day that much better! And it'll be the first proper non-commuting ride on my shiny new baby :woohoo:

Argh, that sounds like fun. But I've got friends coming over to stay on Saturday :( Ok, shouldn't pull a sad face, haven't seen them in ages, but still.
And had a tooth surgery on Tuesday. Not sure yet if my jaw would be happy with a helmet on for several hours, anyway. But one of these days hopefully I'll manage to go for a ride with you guys again.

I'm about 80% sure you're taking the piss with the name here but still want to confirm. This is the standard blastoff point for southbound rides yes?

Yeah still going, the weather is coming in from the north/west so we race it home. I have 100 Lts or cupboard space on the Suzuki so the red/whit/blue root will be taken, as will my oil skin wool lined vest and other water repelling over clothes.
Come along, Katman said he'll meet us there, rumour has it, the FBI are there killing some cave bats and blaming the locals.

U Fuckin Bastard? Yep, I've installed a few of those as well. They're cunts!
It was working fine... then it rained and stopped working.
Visionstream came out, apparently not enough power, and also re-jigged the install into the house as client wasn't happy with his telephone exchange (his words).
However, it still ain't working, and they helpfully disconnected the copper as well (not asked) so now no phone, no copper broadband (which I had rolled them back to, as it was still live) and no UFB.
U fuckin bastard is about right...

What can I say. The ROOT is going to make an appearance tomorrow. Most people think it is a phantom thing, but I have proof it exists

If the ride is flagged, I vote we all just toddle up to yours anyway. Would be a shame to leave all that food uneated.

So, it is now soup with crusty bread for lunch then slow cooked yumminess for tea. Car available to go and get supplies if required :)
