Not Happy.

However, half a billion dollar lottery jackpot is insane, especially for the lone winner. I imagine seeing the winner on TV in 10 years for blowing it all on random shite.

What would you blow it all on?

I'd keep enough to live very comfortably on for a couple of lifetimes, distribute some around family and then invest the rest and give the proceeds to charities or organisations in need on an ongoing basis. Oh, and I'd, buy a new bike. Or two. I have humble needs.

Buy some expertise and start the campaign of eradicating the financial system from NZ... then the world. Much better value than half a billion $.

I can't imagine winning that sort of money, but Mrs J and I have discussed what we would do if we had a large windfall.

1. Pay off the mortgage, but that wouldn't make a dent in a sum so large.
2. Give away 25%. For thiat sort of money we would set up a trust to that would distribute money to deserving recipients.
3. Set aside 25% in an on demand account for frivilous spending. A new glider would be nice, and a night out at a pub somewher in the heart of Siberia or Brazil.
4. Save 25% in secure fixed interest bank deposits so there is always an income to live on.
5. Invest 25% in higher risk investments such as startup ventures. Maybe it could help some young people into their own business or similar.

That was based on maybe winning Lotto but $500 million or so would require a whole new thought process.

Buy my first but modest 4-bedroom house with a huge underground garage for a couple of cars and a couple dozen bikes. Jay Leno'd be my consultant/interior decorator for the garage. Well-kitted out and an on-call mechanic too... plus a full-sized bar and a top-of-the-line BBQ for when KBers drop by. Oh, I forgot: A race track too...

A quarter of the money would be invested to keep me living comfortably, while the rest would be used to make lots of people wealthy, like family [of course], bike mechanics, bike clubs, auto groomers, motorcycle safety training organisations, track operators, KB administrators,...

I might buy bikes cheap, have my mechanic check them over and even fix them, then sell them even cheaper to learners... Bring in a container load of good quality helmets and sell them at cost... All to have more people to be able to get on motorbikes affordably. Then sign them up for Prorider, SafeRider, etc.

Maybe start my own political party to clean out the current crop of useless politicians and install a benevolent dictatorship. Katman will be my Grand Poohbah of Transport and Roads.

Winning probably isn't too good for your health.

I disagree [in my case anyway]... If I can pay off my debts instantly, buy a home or five for my family members, invest wisely to ensure the security of my family and future generations, help out others, then I will be happy and thus healthy. THEN I can enjoy my two dozen bikes... Oh yeah! :headbang:

I guess we should hire a good accountant to keep our money out of the hands of the thieving gubbermint, aye? OR we could build a convention centre! :tugger:

Never spend the capital, use the interest as required, eliminate debt first, then any needy projects etc.

Still, with that sum it does change things. The interest would be insane.

Always sad that many end up worse off after winning, than they were prior.

Interest that good ole US tax paying citizens will have to earn for the winner :blip:

THAT would give them something to moan about...<_<

You would have to pay tax on it first 35%

590-206.5in tax is 383.5million left

I would put 300Million into an investment account that pays interest monthly (think the current rate is about 4-5%pa) so roughly 12mill a year think i can handle a mill a month (this interest is taxed so would probably be around 600-700k a month)

Using the next 83.5Million I would pay all my debt (which is fuck all) clear my familys debt ie mortage etc

Make sure my close family all have a house they can afford (ie pay the bills like rates insurance etc for)

Possibly buy some rental property or start a business as I would quit my current role

Blow around 3.5mill on a flash house and contents

Get some bikes a few cars, finish my race car off etc

Set up a trust for my children (when I have some)

Travel and expirence the world some more.

Give some money to people who really need it as in have worked to make things better but cant get ahead

Will ponder more on it lol

They don't get the whole amount. If they take a lump sum its reduced quite a bit otherwise its paid out over a long term and taxed at 35% or thereabouts.

But even after all the deductions it's still going to be a shitload of money to deal with.

Everyone in Florida is going to claim they are a long-lost relative.

I'd finish building my bikes and buy a another Morris Minor.

I would track down the Morris Traveller I had and pay someone to restore it to better than concours condition... except with the underpinnings from a WRX impreza....

and I would find my CB400F and buy that back.

Give a few cunts on here and various other forums that look like they'd be productive with it a cool hundred grand each. I've seen some sick shit built, wouldn't hurt to see a little more. Basically a patron of the arts, except bike builders not painters or sculptures.

Pay off my house an give it to me Mum.

Buy around 200 acres and house up north,,,,Peria or sumunt like there.

Buy a house/property on Stewart island.

Collect firearms and large amounts of ammo.

Set a couple of mil aside to pay the rates then give the rest away to people I think deserve it.

I'd prefer if it were in the backyard than on the doorstep... :bleh: That'd be one long-ass driveway!

Because some nosey bastard would try to move next door and then complain about the noise.

Or, you'd never in your wildest dreams gain consent to build it...

1) build a 90 ft wall around auckland.
2) fill it with water.
3) build a large trebouchet
4) uilise large trebouchet for a) flinging politicians into space, b) putting them into a low orbit, c) seeing how high i can get them without them going into low orbit, d) impact tesing substances... like concrete.
