I'm going out to eye ball a Yamaha WR250 tomorrow...
Anything I should look for / listen for with the WR ?
seems cheap as far as WR250's go.. 7,500k , with dead rego...
think it's a F model... no harm looking..

Yes it is a F model, which is a 5 speed with electric start. Great dirt bike.
I know someone who rode the Molesworth & Rainbow, he almost ran out of gas into Hanmer Springs and had a sore arse.
WRR began in 2008, entirely new bike also with firm seat.

Myself, I’d have a long hard look at the bike before considering. Anyone trying to sell a bike by showing how good it jumps needs thier head reading.

My mate bought a 450 ( I think you may have ridden with him- Steve) that needed a new engine as soon as he bought it. Paid for it twice.

I always buy bikes that the owner says "Mint bro, runs schweeet, & whips Kawa/KTM/Suzu/ arses down the back straight" cos I know they're honest kinda chaps that look after their machines.

the RIGHT prise... looks like about a grand for the parts shiped..
new bore kit 250/270/290cc / new crank & main bearings / steel valves..
Can't fined a bore kit with a real piston.. all have the silly little slipper half
piston things.. wan't a girlie one with a skirt...

O well looks like I'm the owner of a 04 WR250f...
motor's very quite.. seems really under powered...
So it's not been un-corked, still factory restricted..
The throttle only goes to 3/4 / rev limiter still connected..

Cool i had a 2004 WR250F from new after a used earlier one, went like a train but you had to rev it - kept it for six years and never did any more than routine oil changes, wheel bearings, head bearings, checked the valve clearances a few times but never needed adjustment. Lots of talk on thumpertalk about them blowing up which made me nervous but it never happened. Ran better on mobil 1 gear changes and finding neutral much easier.

Should have kept it and put a bigger tank on it and a few other farkles but bought a DR instead, better on the road but not as fun as the WR:(
