I have had my 97 F560ST for a few weeks now, and I love it, the more I ride it the more I like it. BUT..............
its REALLY REALLY noisy! wind noise I mean..
I am thinking I need to either lower the top lip of the wind screen or get a taller one, but I dont know which to do.
I am thinking that the height is causing a lot of turbulence behind the screen between it and me.
any ideas?

All screens cause rider turbulence and helmet noise. Sometimes that can be exacerbated by adding a pillion or rear luggage. Start by taking the screen off and seeing what clean air feels like before you start ferkling. A taller screen may help, or a lower screen may help. But first figure out exactly what benefit you want a screen to afford.

Move your hand up in front of your face until you feel the turbulence.
Then you can see if it's going to be easier to shorten or lengthen the screen...
I shortened mine 20mm at a time until the turbulence was at my shoulders.

I have an electric powered adjustable screen and I always find it better in the lower position,
if its in the upper I get a lot of noise around my helmet ...

As Nordie said, as you're riding along, use your left hand in front of the helmet to figure out where the clean air is, and where turbulence is.
You also need to decide what you want the screen to do. If you shorten, your head will be in the blast, visor get dirty etc. May also be more settled. Behind the screen, visor stays clean, but not as much cooling on hot days.

You'll need earplugs for most trips anyway. Try riding with earplugs before you start messing around with the screen. I use the beige coloured ones from Macks.
