In What is a New Zealand first and possibly a World Drag Racing first - Hamilton Motorcycle Drag Racers Alan and Violet Thoresen have Taken out the No 1 and No 2 Titles Respectively in the NZ Drag racing National Series - Modified bike Category on their Kawasaki motorcycles. - Alan runs a Modified Kawasaki ZX-14 and Violet rides a Kawasaki 250 Ninja. Both run under Alan Thoresen's Black Thunder Racing NZ Team.
The NZDRA National Drag Racing Series ran through 2012/2013 at NZ Dragstrips in Taupo, Tokoroa, Masterton, and Nelson, where points were accumulated by the racers throughout the season.
With Alan and Violet as husband and wife, the placing of 1st and 2nd in the series, is a first in the country.
What is more remarkable is that Violet had sustained serious injuries from a motorcycle accident at Easter 2012, ( Oil on the road) requiring two major surgeries where her shoulder was rebuilt with steel plates, pins and screws, and she was told she would never ride a motorcycle again!
As a very determined girl Violet disregarded these comments and with her sheer strength, determination and self therapy she has got back on her Kawasaki and with a " can do it attitude" has taken out the runner up position in a National Drag Racing Title.
The formal National NZDRA Awards are scheduled for June 29th in Hamilton

A terriffic achievment for Violet ( and Alan ).:clap:

Alan accompanied the riders on this years scooter childrens cancer ride from Wanganui to Taupo in March.

His big black Kwaka did quite well keeping up with the scooters.

Does the series run 'dial in' staggered start system?

Pretty cool that someone can run second in the class on a 250.
