Bowel cancer Awareness Week is almost over, I just heard about it today. Aint that fucken typical
It kills 4x as many kiwis as the road toll, yet is easily fixed [90% success] with early detection
No funding is available, yet it kills more people than higher profiled cervical and breast cancer's
NZ is almost at the top of list in the developed world for death from bowel cancer
On the morning news, they said they had no idea what caused it....

Why is bowel cancer not in the media?
It's because colon cancer is not really a subject anyone wants to talk about. Who wants to talk about colonoscopies? Who really wants to subject themselves to these invasive tests? Who thinks about bowel habit changes? Who wants to admit it happens?
I take a shit most days. Sometimes I take more than one :headbang:
I am fairly certain I am not alone in this.
I have a terrible family history of colon cancer. Am I doing anything about it? Absolutely!
Thanks to some early investigations, I am now tested every 2 years. I plan to live for a long time.
Sadly, there are people that wish cancer upon others. I hope they never have to lose someone that they love, totally and utterly and completely love, to the ravages that cancer can bring.

It's no joke mate! It is a horrible thing. I hope all is well for you.
What Mom said! We are in the age bracket now where we should be checked for it but the thought of a colonoscopy was putting us off. Waitemata Health has sent me a free screening test we can do at home, arrived in the mail today. Non invasive so happy to give it a go.
As part of my treatment for Cushing's I get a prostate check every year by blood test too.

He was a farmer all his life,grain farmer mostly, he had a theory that it was the grain dust that caused his problems. He thought he may get lung cancer from the dust, so was a little surprised when he got it in the bowels. I belive all sickness is a form of emotional repression, but that is just my opinion.:yes:
