Hey there,
Me and 2 mates are considering buying a race bike (Hyo 250R) for the Hyosung Cup and Pro-lites. We're all new to racing and thought this'd be a fun way for us to all have a crack at it while not spending too much to get started.
I'm just wondering what the rules are concerning having turns for the different races; like if I did round one, mate #1 did round two and mate #2 did round three.
Are there rules against having multiple riders of a bike within a single race series?
We all want to have a crack at racing but don't want to run three bikes at this stage. Just wondering if this was doable.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated, cheers.

It will be 250 Production first, and keeping in the rules you will not be able to Modify it as much as some Hyosung Cup bikes......
Have a loos at www.mnz.co.nz for those rules. That said, no excuses for not keeping up.

As for 3 riders, no problems at all, BUT you will all be in your own championships, as it is against the rider and not the bike.
So in a 6 round championship each of you will be able to get points for 2 rounds only.

Hope this helps.

sounds like a great job to aim for seriuosly, what a great way to dip your feet and you've got pit crew sorted too, it wont be long before one becomes a wet weather specialist and one does wet other dry...

Nothing against that. The riders score points not the bike. Be warned you wont want to be on the sidelines watchin your mate race for long......

Thanks for the quick replies.

Yeah I thought it'd be a great way to get started without investing too much. I'll have a good look over the rules at MNZ.
So if we all wanted to enter and ride the one bike, we'd each have to register separately? That would mean three registration fees which we were hoping to avoid.. Hmmm.

[Edit] Just found this, which pretty much answers my question :(

5.6.3 A rider who is entered at a permitted event who allows a non-entered person to compete on their entered motorcycle at the event without the permission of the steward of the meeting and club officials, shall be excluded from the meeting and the matter reported to the Board for possible further disciplinary action.

The rider is the entrant..not the bike. So yes each rider has to enter separately and pay the fees. So all of you need to have an MNZ licence (or day licence)
If you enter separate meetings then the cost is the same as everybody else... if you both or all three enter the same meeting and ride in different races then it works out expensive.
Although doing what you are planning is a great way to "test the water" and the bike / class in question is the best (and cheapest) option. Don't be under illusions that motorcycle racing (like any motorised sport) can be done on an absolute shoestring for too long. It doesn't have to be silly expensive... but it does cost more than you think.

You just enter round by round. There is no need to enter the whole series all at once.
Check out http://vicclub.co.nz/entries.php as an example.
