not my first post, was too busy asking for advice on a bike to notice this thread! sorry about that.
Am from Northern Ireland originally but been in NZ for quite a few years now.
Just closed the deal on my first bike ever. A BMW F650. Looking forward to the weekend and taking it out for a decent run.
Will be commuting mostly but the summer evenings beckon for fun runs.
Have already picked some of the collective brains here, awesome forum with healthy banter and lots of good advice, hopefully I can connect with riders in my area over time.
That is all :-)

Didn't notice any this year, but I am good at not noticing such things. Why the F one should have to sign up to arsebook so they can rape and pimp your information puzzles me but seems to be the way of things now days. Hope they haven't gone the arsebook way.

Welcome to KB :woohoo:
Congrats to getting your first bike. Quite an interesting choice for a first bike. I assume though that you already have some experience riding, don't you? Anyway, hope you'll have lots of fun with it and safe riding.

Hi, interesting that you think its interesting. No I don't have any experience of motorcycles, only scooters and farm trikes/quads.
I got this bike because I am 1.96m tall and 110kgs, I want to commute between home and Wgtn for work. I really dont think a 250cc bike was going to cut it for me.
Have no intention of braving the city until I am much more confident and familiar with the bike. Have a few sensible biker friends who are willing to help out and am organising some extra instruction from the team I did my BHS with. After that its practice practice I guess :-)
Thank you all for the welcome.

Can be done on a 250 but not something you would want to do it long term. Know of another rider that switched from a 250 to an F650 when he moved to Kapiti because the 250 was too small for the wind, distance, gorge etc, got a nice 250 out of that for my young un :shifty:

Welcome mate, I too am a F650ST rider in Kapiti, Waikanae to be exact, I love my ST, the more I ride it the more I like it. I hope its the same for you!
I am happy to answer any questions you might have, if I can.
PM me if you want to get together for a get together and a pint of Guinness at my local Murphys Law :headbang::drool::lol::2thumbsup
I am the a fore mentioned 250 rider above, I commute daily from Waikanae to Welly. Not sure what time you are going to be riding in to Welly but I am happy to meet up if we are riding at similar times.
