look at all that blue sky.
Off to Gold and Sunshine Coast in July. We'll be going to the Outpost Café in Canungra for the best thick shakes and to look at all the bikes cruising past. Biking nirvana or pretty close to it.

Enjoy. FWIW the road from Mt Tamborine to Canungra is currently closed due to a landslide.

23c here and a bit overcast currently.
It almost makes up for all the things that are wrong with Qld. But not quite.

Is that the road that is steep and twisty that takes you up to Mt Tambourine. I see on the map its called Main Western Rd - leave Outpost Café , turn left about 500m and ascend on a great (but short) riding road.
Cheers

Thanks - the better the light, the better the go pro cameras work. They aren't unique there hey.

We went up the mountain in a Kia Rio rental car, 1600 auto, and I wasn't sure we were going to make it up some parts! Was about to tell Mrs. Bear to get out and push! There were only the two of us in it! Could smell other vehicles brakes on the way down, too.

Agreed, well done!

Nice vid Dave. Looked like a nice bit of road too. I like the way the Aussies don't plaster warning signs all over the place, and I can't think of a decreasing radius corner anywhere within a couple of hundred km of Mackay - motorbike heaven. Mind you, you've got to put some kilometres in between corners up here, plenty of long straights through the MAMOBSC (miles and miles of bloody sugar cane).
It has got a bit cold though, last night in Mackay was 15 deg C and today was 23,. I'm staying overnight 200 km inland tonight, went for a walk this evening wearing sandals, jeans and a short sleeved aertex shirt. Will get cooler later tonight up here though, heard they're expecting it down to 5 deg overnight - they get frost right out in the outback.
Its great that there's been a bit of rain, means there's green grass back in the bush and that keeps the roos off the road. Was following a car down the Beef Development Road about 100+ km inland and never saw the roo come out of the bush - just saw it wheel over the bonnet of the car in front, smashed their radiator and oil cooler, didn't do a lot of good to the roo either. Then the next week, a wild pig ran across the road in front of me, if I hadn't braked it would have done the same to me.

I've only been through up that way on route to FNQ, but yeah once you get away from the Great Divide there is lots of flat and straight - days of it.
What the people from the Southern States often don't realise is how far it is from Brisbane to Cairns.
Pretty good riding up that way (FNQ) in the cooler months.
